Question:
I’m getting married in 6 months and I have not saved enough money for a grand wedding. Although my fiancée is very excited about the wedding planning, I want to budget the planning so I don’t end up dealing with a huge credit card debt soon after the wedding. I am worried about this. Do you think I should let my fiancée know or look for cheap vendors and services myself?

Answer:
As with everything else, weddings costs have gone up over the years. Your tab is likely to be higher if you want to get married in expensive venues or arrange for elaborate entertainment options. However, the fact is that you can spend as much or as little as you want and still plan a memorable wedding. For a budget marriage, begin by keeping your invitation simple and if possible (with extra time or helping hands) you can make them yourself. Don’t think about hiring an emcee. You can ask one of your family members to emcee instead. You don’t have to be embarrassed about planning a tight budget wedding. Begin by estimating every expense you might incur in months before your wedding and on the wedding day, add 20% to it and you might be close to your actual spending. Tell your wedding planner that you are looking forward to a marriage on budget and let them know how much you can afford. Start early and plan ahead. Your planner will be able to shortlist vendors who offer great prices and you might even get to choose if you plan early. Shopping wisely is another great tip for a budget wedding. Look out for sales and offers on clothing and décor. Also, take advantage of the Internet. From hiring a budget wedding planner to buying wedding supplies at great prices, there is a lot you can with a simple click!
