Ask anyone what the use of oil is, the reply will be for hair conditioning and massage. Right? But do you know there are few oils which can be used even on your skin. Yes, skin! There are plenty of oils available in the market which can be used on your face, and one such oil is castor oil.

Castor oil penetrates deep into the skin like no other oil. It will not only soften and hydrate your skin, but will also help in promoting elastin and collagen production, thus helping in reducing wrinkles and fine lines. Use the oil in following ways:
For dry skin- Mix 2 drops of castor oil with 6 drops of sesame oil
For normal skin- Mix 2 drops of castor oil with 6 drops of olive oil
For oily skin- Mix 2 drops of castor oil with 6 drops of jojoba oil

Then gently massage the mixture on your skin, put a slightly warm damp cotton cloth on your face and let it stay for a minute. Now, remove the cloth and remove the excess oil with cotton pad. Your skin will be soft and supple.

This oil is an excellent way to get rid of the dry skin problem. You can either use the oil directly or as a face mask for dry skin remedy. Here is how you can use the oil in both the ways:
Just oil- Mix castor oil with coconut oil (1:1 ratio), apply it on the affected areas and leave it on for 20-30 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. Pat it dry and you will see the difference after using it for a couple of times.
Face mask- Mix 1 teaspoon of castor oil with one egg yolk, apply the mask on your face, leave it for 10-15 minutes or till it dries. Now, rinse it off with warm water and pat dry. Your skin will no longer be dry.

Castor oil has ricinoleic acid which makes it a wonderful natural treatment to get rid of mild acne. And here is how you can use the oil to treat acne.
Firstly, wash your face with warm water to open the pores and then takes 1-2 drops of oil and massage onto your skin and leave it overnight. Rinse it off with warm water and mild soap next morning and you will see that your skin is slowly becoming acne free. However, do not use too much oil on your skin, else it might clog the pores. Do consult your doctor before applying it.
And with regular application of oil you can even reduce the appearance of scars. How? The fatty acid in the oil gets absorbed in the scar tissue, promoting growth of healthy tissue around it, thus fading the scars.

Isn’t it great to know that only one oil can tackle so many skin problems! It is a wonder oil in true sense. Other than these uses, castor oil can also be applied to prevent stretch marks, heal cracked lips and heels along with soothing sunburn. However, make sure to use only pure, cold pressed and hexane-free castor oil for best results. Most of the castor oils available in the market are made from non-organic seeds that are loaded with pesticides, deodorised or chemically processed. So, do read the label carefully before purchasing the oil.
