Ace choreographer-turned-filmmaker, Farah Khan and Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan's friendship is known to all. They have worked together in a number of hit films, and the director has, time and again, opened up about her fondness for the actor. However, once, there was a brawl between SRK and Farah's husband, Shirish Kunder, which somehow managed to bring troubles to her friendship with the actor. Later, Farah and Shah Rukh sorted their ways in the ways best known to them, and yet again, bonded like never before.
Once, during her candid conversation on NDTV’s Your Call, Farah Khan opened up about the alleged feud between her and superstar, Shah Rukh Khan due to his brawl with her husband, Shirish Kunder. Recalling the incident, the filmmaker mentioned that the actor had never slapped her husband, contrary to what was said in the rumours. However, they have now sorted things between them and gotten back together. Elaborating how she had a major fallout after the incident in 2012, Farah recalled:
“Shah Rukh told me he held Shirish, and he said, ‘I was very happy that he didn’t strike back because he kept my respect.’ So that also has become a rumour, that now the perception has become more than it should. But I think what we learnt all of us from that was that it’s gone too far, and it’s like you know, when you need a splash of, when two people are fighting you need to throw a bucket of water on their face. It was literally intervention I would say, and if that hadn’t happened maybe, we would not have gotten back together, become friends and we needed that one big thing, otherwise it was just fester, fester, fester, with too many people jumping in and adding kerosene into the fire.”

In another conversation with PTI, Farah revealed how she and SRK were mending their ways. Talking along the same lines, the filmmaker mentioned that after their patch-up, their bond has become much stronger, and no one would take the other person for granted from then onwards. For the unversed, Farah and SRK then also worked together on the project, Happy New Year, keeping the tensions between them afar. She said:
“This is the best phase of SRK and me as an actor and director. I think we don’t take each other for granted anymore. When you lose a friendship like that, you realise the worth of it. When you get it back, you are grateful. We now talk about everything. We don’t let rumours affect us. There is no more stuff like this one said that and the other one said this. We talk it out. You will see this magic in Happy New Year.”
According to multiple reports surfacing in 2012, it was during Sanjay Dutt's star-studded party for his friends at a nightclub in Juhu when Shah Rukh Khan got involved in a fight with Shirish Kunder. An insider informed The Times Of India that SRK had joined the party at around 3:15 am, and interacted with his B-town friends but kept his distance from Shirish. This was allegedly because Shirish, back then, reportedly took a nasty dig at the actor's movie, Ra.One, and called it a ‘firework fizzle’ on Twitter. Then, as per the close source, Shirish, who was drunk, allegedly mumbled something in SRK’s ears, which irritated him so much that the latter pinned Shirish to a sofa. Finally, Sanjay had to intervene to stop the brawl.

After a lot of buzz regarding the same incident surfaced in the media, Farah revealed to Headlines Today that her husband, Shirish, was beaten up by Shah Rukh and his three bodyguards at Sanjay Dutt's party. Talking further about the same, Farah mentioned how she was shocked to see Shah Rukh, who always told her that physical abuse was not the answer to every problem, do such a thing to her husband. She shared:
"Shirish, my husband, was beaten up by Shah Rukh and his three bodyguards in Sanjay Dutt's party. Shah Rukh asked Shirish why he had tweeted against him... There was no provocation from our side. He had screamed at Shirish, telling him that he would destroy me as well. Shahrukh has always told me that physical abuse is the worst way to sort out a problem and that it means the person who's hitting has either a personal or professional crisis going on, and it saddens me to see him doing the same."
