One of the most eligible bachelors of the Indian television, Gautam Rode walked the aisle with fiancée Pankhuri Awasthy on February 5, 2018. Their dreamy destination wedding took place at the Tijara Fort Palace in Alwar town. After their secret love affair, Gautam and Pankhuri got engaged in an intimate ceremony around Diwali 2017.
For their D-day, bride Pankhuri looked resplendent in a red and golden bridal lehenga with gold jewellery. The groom Gautam complemented his dulhan in a cream-coloured embroidered silk sherwani which he paired up with pagdi. Entering the wedding venue, Gautam too joined his baraat dance and grooved on the dhol with his family and friends.
According to a source of Mumbai Mirror, the couple shared their first impressions about each other on their sangeet night. The source revealed, "During the cocktail party, Pankhuri revealed that Gautam had come across as a snob when they first met on their show's set, while the actor wondered who the jhalli was when he saw her walking around in casual clothes ahead of call-time, admitting being taken aback when she eventually emerged for a shot in character as Drapaudi."
The wedding ceremonies started off on February 4, 2018, with mehendi function, followed by ring ceremony and sangeet. Next morning was haldi function and later they finally tied the nuptial knot. The lovebirds delighted their fans with a picture of them from their mehendi ceremony, and Gautam captioned his picture, "New Beginnings." According to Mumbai Mirror, a source was quoted as saying, "Gautam and Pankhuri had exchanged rings during Diwali last year as part of a formal proposal but wanted to have a formal ceremony before the wedding with their family and friends in attendance. The sangeet happened in the evening with actress Nigaar Khan performing on some Bollywood hits.” On their sangeet night, soon-to-be-married couple recreated the lovely look of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Dil Diyaan Gallan from the film, Tiger Zinda Hai. Gautam and Pankhuri chose the same designer, Ashely Rebello, who designed Salman and Katrina’s look for that song. The duo also danced on their track and looked beautiful together.
For the uninitiated ones, Gautam and Pankhuri met on sets of Suryaputra Karn, and gradually their friendship turned into love. While they both look like a made-for-each-other couple, they have a huge age gap of 14 years. But as it is rightly said, age is just a number when one is in love! After his engagement. Gautam revealed why he was not talking about his relationship earlier and said, ''The engagement isn’t secret anymore. Everyone knows about it now. The intention was never to keep it a secret. I have always believed that there is no point of talking about something until you know which direction it is going to go in. Once both the families got involved, we got engaged, I did speak about it. Now, I know for sure that our relationship is moving towards marriage and hence I am talking about it.'' Announcing his intimate roka ceremony, the Saraswatichandra actor retorted to a media portal, “Yes, Pankhuri and I recently got engaged and I feel lucky to have found a life partner like her. We share the same wavelength and she has fit into my family perfectly.”
Heartiest congratulations to the newly-married couple, Gautama and Pankhuri.
