And, that is exactly what Bollywood’s most beloved director of all times is feeling these days. We are talking about none other than Karan Johar. This came as a big surprise for all his friends and fans, when it was announced that Karan has become a father to twins through surrogacy. The babies were born on February 7, 2017.
According to reports, the little munchkins, one boy and one girl, were born in Mumbai's Masrani Hospital where Shah Rukh Khan's third child AbRam was also delivered in 2015. Interestingly, even AbRam was delivered by a surrogate mother.
Karan has put a lot of thought into naming his little kiddos. He has named his baby boy Yash, after his father Yash Johar, who was a very celebrated director of his time. His little princess has been named Roohi, which is an anagram of his mother Hiroo’s name. This just shows how lovely Karan is as a person, and how close he is to his parents.

Karan released his full statement about the birth of his babies with these touching words:
“I am ecstatic to share with you all the two most wonderful additions to my life, my children and lifelines; Roohi and Yash. I feel enormously blessed to be a parent to these pieces of my heart who were welcomed into this world with the help of the marvels of medical science.
This was an emotional yet well thought out decision which I have taken after considering all the responsibilities and duties that come with being a parent. In order to arrive at this decision, I have prepared myself mentally, physically, emotionally and logistically to ensure that my children get all the unconditional love, care and attention from me and mine. I have submitted to the fact that my children are my world and priority. My work, travels and social commitments would have to take a back seat and I am prepared for that. By the grace of God, I have the most caring and supportive mother who will be an integral part in the up-bringing of her grandchildren and of course, friends who are family.”
Karan had first expressed his desire to become a father in his book titled ‘An Unsuitable Boy’ wherein he wrote:
“I don't know what I'm going to do about it but I feel like I would like to be a parent. I don't know how it's going to happen but I do feel the need because I have plenty of love to offer and I'd like to take it forward.”
And, now that his dream has been fulfilled with the help of an amazing woman who acted as a nurturer to his babies for nine months, he heartily acknowledged and thanked her with these kind words:
“I am eternally grateful to the surrogate who has fulfilled my lifelong dream and provided a warm, loving and nurturing environment to my children before bringing them into this world. She will always remain in my prayers.”

This is what the ecstatic new dad had to say about the doctor who delivered the babies:
“Finally, a big thank you to Dr. Jatin Shah for his guidance and support and for being like a family member through this wonderful and exciting journey.”
All of Karan’s friends and well-wishers from the industry were pleasantly surprised upon hearing the news of these two beautiful additions in his life.
Alia Bhatt was the first one to congratulate Karan with these beautiful words. Here is what she said in her tweet:

Shah Rukh Khan had a very logical yet warm reaction about the same. Here is what he said during an interview:
“We wish him happiness. But it’s still very personal. So, don’t think that I am being cagey by not answering about it. I have had this moment in my life so I know how personal it is. So, let’s respect it and leave it to that. We will have love, celebrations, happiness and health later.”
That was very sweet. Here are some more wishers from the film fraternity for Karan and his little munchkins:
