When Aamir Khan made an appearance on Netflix’s The Great Indian Kapil Show, his sister, Nikhat was seated along with the audience. Though many people know about Nikhat, the actor himself introduced her to the show. While giving her introduction, Aamir asked Kapil, “Have you seen Pathaan?" As Kapil said, “Yes”, the actor went on to say:
“There is a woman in Pathaan, who tells Shah Rukh Khan, 'From now on, you are Pathaan' and ties an amulet on his arm, that's my sister.”

Born in Mumbai to actor, director, and producer, Tahir Hussain and his wife, Zeenat Hussain, Nikhat is the eldest of her siblings. She has a sister, Farhat Khan Datta, and two brothers, Aamir Khan and Faisal Khan. Aamir and Faisal have carved a name in Bollywood and are well-known actors. Farhat is a graphic designer who is married to Aamir Khan’s ex-wife, Reena Dutta’s brother, Rajeev Datta.

Nikhat began her career as a producer and has produced films like Dulha Bikta Hai, Tum Mere Ho, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Madhosh, and the blockbuster Lagaan. She has also modelled for various brands like Amazon, Haldirams, Paytm, Indiabulls, and others.
Nikhat and her family lived in Pune for 14 years before moving to Mumbai. After her husband’s retirement, Nikat came back to Mumbai to look after her mother and begin her career in acting. Although she pursued acting at 57, it turned out in her favour, and she was applauded for her effortless acting. In 2019, Nikhat was seen in Mission Mangal and Saand Ki Aankh. It was followed by films and shows like Tanhaji, Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story, Pathaan and a few others. She now mostly plays the role of a middle-aged woman in films and advertisements.

Nikhat Khan Hegde is married to a Tulu-speaking Kannadiga, Santosh Hegde. He has worked at a Pune-based pharmaceutical company and has retired as the CEO. Santosh, who is divorced, also has a son. Santosh met Nikhat when he went on a holiday to the Ranthambore tiger reserve in Rajasthan. The duo fell in love and, after a brief courtship period, got married. They have a daughter, Seher Hegde and Nikhat also shares a great bond with Santosh’s son, Shravan.
On August 5, 2022, Nikhat Khan Hegde turned 60, and her whole family came together to celebrate the occasion. In a video posted by Nikhat, we could see Aamir Khan along with his children, Ira Khan, Junaid Khan and Azad Rao Khan marking their presence and making the day memorable for her. In the video, Nikhat was seen cutting her birthday cake and feeding it to her loved ones.
