After enjoying the marital bliss for four years, the couple embraced parenthood on December 20, 2016. The duo became proud parents to a baby boy and they named him Taimur Ali Khan.
Ever since sabse chotu nawab’s name got revealed, the social media went mad on the newbie parents for giving him such name. Actually, everyone started linking his name to one of the Turco-Mongol conquerors whose name was Timur. Moreover, he was ill-famed due to his bad deeds.
But the newbie parent’s motive was not to hurt the sentiments of anyone. Saif just liked the name as in Persian it means Iron, and so they named him that. And it had nothing to do with the former ruler.

There is no denying that the way people reacted on Twitter and other social media sites was really heart-breaking, and any parent would feel really bad about it. Same happened with Saif and Kareena as well.
Recently, in an interview Delhi Times, the Rangoon actor shared that he might change the name of his little munchkin as he doesn’t want him to get infamous merely for name. Here’s what the actor was quoted as saying:
“You know, actually - I haven't told anyone this - I thought for a second about changing his name. For a couple of weeks. And Kareena was a little against it and she said, 'People respect you for your opinion and you can't'... So I said, yeah, but it's not about people. I don't want him to get unpopular.”

He further added:
“And I still might, maybe when he's one or two, I might change his name in a while, it's still sinking in, what to do.”
In that same interview, he even revealed that he once thought of jotting down a little note on changing Taimur’s name. But before he could do so, he realised that the reasons behind the same are completely wrong.
On this note, he even went on to say:
“A part of me has realised that if a select few are happy with you, universal acceptance is not required because this kind of populist approval means something scary. I would rather have a handful of people whose opinion I respect, agree with me, that's enough. I don't want universal approval if it's going to require me to pretend.”
