Kanyadaan is a popular Hindu ritual in which the father gives away his daughter in marriage to the groom. It means that he had gifted his daughter to the groom as a part of his parental duty. And, this ritual alone can evoke millions of emotions in every girl's mind. While no one has ever debated about this wedding ceremony, there is a father in Kolkata that made a difference by refusing to do the kanyadaan.

For those who don’t know, there is a post on Twitter that talks about the wedding with a difference, where female pandits performed the wedding. The post, shared by Twitter user Asmita Ghosh, has collected over 2,300 'likes' and a ton of comments praising their "progressive" outlook. It can be read as “I'm at a wedding with female pandits. They introduce the bride as the daughter of and (mom first!!!). The bride's dad gave a speech saying he wasn't doing kanyadaan because his daughter wasn't a property to give away. I'm so impressed.” Check it out here: (Also Read: Mira Rajput Kapoor Shares What Was It Like Meeting Shahid Kapoor For The First Time At The Age Of 16)
