Aamir Khan's son, Junaid Khan, is all prepared to make his cinematic debut alongside Boney Kapoor and Sridevi's daughter, Khushi Kapoor, in the film, Loveyapa. On January 10, 2025, a grand trailer launch event in Mumbai was organised by the makers of the film. Proud father, Aamir Khan, attended the event to show his support for his son.
Aamir Khan expressed how proud he is of his son, Junaid Khan's theatrical debut film, the romantic comedy, Loveyapa. The actor present at the trailer launch admitted that he's a die-hard romantic. Aamir swore he was a romantic, and as proof, he stated that they should ask his ex-wives. He stressed that he is telling the truth and, in fact, he is an extremely mushy person. Aamir was quoted saying:
"Actually main bahut romantic aadmi hu. Ma kasam, main bahut romantic hu. Bahut funny lagta hai bolte hue par aap meri dono biwiyon se pooch sakte hain ye baat. Sach bol raha hu main. Because main hu uss type ka. I'm a very mushy romantic person."
Aamir Khan married Reena Dutta in 1986, long before he made his big breakthrough in Bollywood. The actor rose to prominence with his cousin, Mansoor Khan's 1988 romantic drama, Qayamat Se Qayaamt Tak, alongside actress, Juhi Chawla. Aamir and Reena shared two children together, Junaid Khan and Ira Khan. However, the two separated in 2002.
Soon after, Aamir Khan began dating Kiran Rao, who was an assistant director on the sets of Aamir's production debut, Ashutosh Gowariker's 2001 cult period sports drama Lagaan. The duo tied the knot in 2005 and became parents to their son Azad via surrogacy in 2011. However, they got a divorce ten years later in 2021. Regardless of how their marriages ended, Aamir remained good friends with Reena and Kiran.
Aamir was seen holding hands and dancing with his first wife, Reena, at the Udaipur wedding of their daughter Ira in 2024. He was also seen consoling Reena after her father's death later in 2024. Aamir and Kiran are not only co-parents but also worked together after their divorce. He co-produced Kiran's latest directorial, Laapataa Ladies, which became India's official entry to the Academy Awards 2025. Unfortunately, the film didn't make it to the shortlist.
At the same event, Aamir Khan shared how proud he is of his son and how he has conducted himself. During a speech, the overwhelmed father expressed how seeing his son enter the industry he had worked in for over three decades made him emotional. He was quoted saying:
"As a father, I have been quite absent. I used to be in my own world while my kids navigated their childhood on their own. Today, I am extremely proud of how Junaid chose a career path for himself on his own terms. I have been in the industry since 1988. It has been over 36 years. Now that my son has also stepped into the same industry, it is a very emotional moment for me. I really wish him well."
