Aamir Khan is known for his perfectionism and his skills as an actor in B-town, and he enjoys a massive following. The actor has dedicated over thirty years of his life to the film fraternity. However, even Mr. Perfectionist had a starting point where he felt nervous like any other actor. The actor has worked with numerous brilliant talents in the industry, one of whom was Kitu Gidwani. The actress recently revealed that there was a time when Aamir was a newcomer in the industry and also a 'nobody'. The duo was seen together in the 1984 film, Holi. It was a political thriller that starred filmmaker, Ashutosh Gowariker and actor, Naseeruddin Shah.
During a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, Kitu Gidwani revealed how she bagged her role in the film, Holi. She shared that during those days, Aamir Khan was a nobody, and all of them were crazy people with aspirations to make it big in the film fraternity. She added that one day, filmmaker, Ketan Mehta approached her and mentioned how she had recently seen a lot at the Film Institute. Kitu responded to this and shared that she has been making student films. She further shared that Ketan, after that, suddenly asked her if she would like to be a part of his film, Holi, which was a student project for the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. The film was mostly shot on the college campus. Reflecting on the occurrence and her role in the film, Kitu shared:
"During those days, Aamir Khan was a nobody! We were all crazy people on the film institute campus. Ketan Ji asked me, Kitu. Lately, you have been mostly seen in the Film Institute… so I said, 'Yeah, I have been doing student films.' Suddenly, he was like, 'Will you do Holi?' I was like, 'What is Holi?' He said, 'It's a film I am doing.' And that’s how it all happened. I just played the sexy girl on campus. Back then, it was not about money or stepping stone. We just did what we liked."
In the same conversation, Kitu Gidwani opened up about her experience working with the stellar actor, Aamir Khan. She revealed that the actor had just started his career in the film industry and was extremely creative. However, she had no idea who the actor was as Aamir was very quiet. She also recalled an incident from the film. She shared that a scene required them to kiss, which made the actor extremely nervous. She stated:
"He had just started his career in cinema then. He is a man who loves cinema. He was creative. I had no clue who Aamir Khan was. Aamir was a very quiet person. They were all very humble and cool. He was very nervous when we had to kiss. He was as nervous as I was. He was a very simple actor back then. I can call him a friend."
Naseeruddin Shah played the role of a professor in the film, Holi. The actor, who is famously known for his toughness, was no less than a teacher to actress, Kitu Gidwani. She called Naseeruddin humble and shared that his work was worship for him. She stated:
"Naseer is quiet humble when he comes before his co-actors. I joined his theatre group, Motley Crew. For us, the work was more important. For Naseer, Work is worship. He was our friend, but I saw him as my Guru. He never asked for it. I felt like respecting him."
