In the year 2016 when Geeta Phogat (Babita Phogat's elder sister) had gotten married to Pawan Kumar Saroha, Aamir was also present at her wedding in their Bilali village home in Haryana. The actor had even expressed his wish of gifting the shaadi ka joda to her, but it wasn't allowed as according to the tradition only the bride's maternal uncle can gift it.
For those who don't know, Aamir Khan shares a special bond with the Phogat sisters because of his film, Dangal (which is loosely based on their lives). The actor had played the role of their father, Mahavir Singh Phogat, who created wrestling champions out of his beautiful girls. Babita Phogat's father, Mahavir Singh Phogat is known to be a strict father, who had given them a tough training and made sure they don't get distracted from other girly things. According to DBPost, Babita had expressed her gratitude before taking the pheras. She had shared, “Father did not allow us sisters to doll up, but today the wish has been fulfilled. Today I am very happy after becoming a bride. Very happy after wearing a bridal dress. When we used to go to the wedding ceremony of other girls, we sisters used to wear bangles and rings many times seeing other girls. But Dad did not allow. He often said that your goal should be just wrestling. When the goal is achieved, then do the makeup. I am very happy about wearing a bridal dress.”
Earlier, in an interview with The Guardian, Babita had opened up on her father's strict rules. She had shared, "He is too tough, too strict. But we know how to get our way with him. If wewant him to buy us something, we wait until we have done some strenuous training and then pop the question. His training was like torture. No question of Sundays off. No days off. We used to complain to our mother that even machines get time off. If he caught us arguing at home, he’d be livid: ‘You can’t have trained enough today because if you had, you wouldn’t have the energy to argue.’ He never let up."
