Abhijeet Bhattacharya opened up about the text message he sent to Dua Lipa after she used his song, 'Woh Ladki Jo', for her concert in Mumbai.
Dua Lipa stunned everyone when she performed the mashup of Levitating and Who Ladki Jo in Mumbai. Fans were excited and loved it, but it raised a lot of questions related to the song's creators. It also ignited conversations about giving due credit to the song's original singer, Abhijeet Bhattacharya. Fans of SRK went berserk, but Abhijeet's son, Jay, was upset and questioned not giving credit to his dad. Abhijeet has revealed the text he sent to Dua Lipa after his song went viral.
Woh Ladki Jo is a song from the film Baadshah, which Abhijeet Bhattacharya crooned while Anu Malik was the music composer and the lyrics was written by Javed Akhtar. The mashup was made by DJ Ruchir Kulkarni and gained a lot of traction. Abhijeet agreed that war arose at Dua Lipa's concert, where his fans also rooted for him. The classic singer wrote a sassy text to Dua, and in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, he revealed details about it. Abhijeet said:
"Mere phone pe bhara hua hai jabse woh BKC mei programme chala, mujhe maloom hi nai tha. Bade bade celebrities phone kar rahe hai, corporate, buss arey Abhijit aapka gaana, sab khush hore hai. Maine toh ek baar bhi nai dekha phir maine ek thank you kia Dua Lipa ko ki my classic meets masses."
Abhijeet said that his son, Jay, was a fool to discuss the issues with not giving due credit for the song. Abhijeet noted that no superstar or no one can say that they own the song. This is because Anu Malik, the music composer of the song, made it a classic, and he felt that anyone could own the song, but no one could own the brand.
Abhijeet, who has a tacky humour, revealed that the song, Woh Ladki Jo was a super flop 25 years ago. He remembered when this song came out in 1999, and he was upset that it was the best song titled Woh Ladki Joh Sabse Alag Hai. The singer used to tell everyone that Anu Malik had made it, and people used to not believe it because Anu Malik was known for his commercial and rock songs. Abhijit also said that Baadshah Oh Baadshah song was working which was, pretty commercial. He added:
"Mujhe bahut dukh tha, tab kisine kyu nai bola ki picture flop hai, credit kyu nai lia ki picture flop thi, kal bhi. Lekin music hit tha, picture flop thi lekin aap credit kisko dere hoh flop ka aur credit kisko dere hoh hit music ka. Mei aaj bolta hu ess gaane ki kya zarorat pad gayi aapko. Ek flop gaane ki. Ess gane ko jisne create kia na Ruchir Kulkarni, usne ess gaane ko ek banaya. I just say thanks."
