A lot of changes happen in the life of a person when they become a parent. The journey from being frivolous to being protective begins when a couple starts parenthood. There are so many things that every mommy and daddy have to consider before taking any step, for the sake of their little one. Same is with, Abhishek Bachchan, who shares how his life has changed after becoming a father.
In a conversation with film journalist, Rajeev Masand, Abhishek Bachchan talks about how becoming a father has changed his outlook towards his work and how he has made some changes into professional commitments. When Abhishek was asked if becoming a father to Aaradhya eight-years-ago changed anything in him, he said, “I know it has changed one thing. There are certain kinds of films and scenes I’m not comfortable doing anymore. I would not want to do anything in which my daughter would feel uncomfortable or something that she’d question me about, saying ‘hey what’s going on here?’”
Abhishek continued how he was never comfortable doing romantic scenes on screens and he is grateful that now because of his daughter, he can stop the same. He said, “I’m thankful for it because as it is, I was very uncomfortable doing romantic scenes. So I’m not comfortable doing any intimate scenes, and I’d rather not.”
Abhishek revealed that he clears out his stand about no-intimate scenes in advance only to the director. He added that he tells his director that he is ready to bow out if there are lots of intimate scenes. He continued, “I say that to my directors before signing on, that if there’s a scene which has a lot of physical intimacy, that’s something I’m not willing to do, so you have a choice. If they say this is integral to my storytelling and they really can’t wrap their heads around doing it in a differently aesthetic way, then I say ‘look, you have a choice, I’m very happy to bow out’.”
When asked if his ‘no-intimate’ scene clause has made him lose any film, Abhishek said, “Yes, and that’s fine. No regrets, because I had a creative point of view, and the producer-director have a creative point of view, and they didn’t want to compromise on that and I completely respect that, and it’s perfectly fine.”
Earlier, in Jagran Cinema Summit, Abhishek had shared that Aaradhya is free to choose her career and they will be proud of her regardless of what she becomes, “As far as Aishwarya and I are concerned, be it tomorrow, twenty years down the line or whenever, whatever she decides, we will support her no matter what. That's what our parents did for us as well. As a parent, you want the best for your child. What she decides to do is completely her choice. We will never weigh down on her, that this is what we expect you to do. We would be proud of her regardless of what she becomes.” (Also Read: Aishwarya Sakhuja Recalls Getting Drunk With Husband, Rohit Nag During Their Wedding Festivities)
Talking about Aaradhya and how Aishwarya keep her grounded, Abhishek had said, “Aaradhya is a very sweet kid but I don’t think she understands that bit. She knows we are actors, who appear in films and on TV. She also realises that her dadi ma goes to the Parliament. But I don’t think she understands the concept of, ‘oh, my parents and grandparents are really famous people’. We have tried to keep things as normal as possible for her. Her mother teaches her all of that. Aishwarya is very good at keeping Aaradhya grounded.” (Recommended Read: Kajol Shared 'Quarantine Tapes' With Daughter, Nysa, The Video Is All About Their Unseen Memories)
