Once, Abhishek Bachchan expressed that he would never forgive his 'Refugee' co-star and once good friend, Kareena Kapoor, for 'ruining' him in a romantic scene.
Bollywood stars, Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor began their careers in the Hindi film industry with J.P. Dutta's romantic film, Refugee, which was released in 2000. The movie was a hit and became the fifth highest-grosser of the year. It also changed the professional trajectory of both the debutants. Despite numerous accolades, the film's shoot wasn't without a few hiccups.
When Kareena Kapoor appeared on Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, a video message from her co-star, Abhishek played on the screen, in which the latter heaped praises on the actress. The host asked the actress about her experience of working in front of the camera for the first time. She explained that her first scene was a romantic one that took place inside a Dargah, where Kareena's character would ask Abhishek's character to stay back.

He revealed that the actress thought of him like her brother and wasn't comfortable doing a romantic scene with him. Mimicking her exact expressions, Abhishek said:
“I will never forgive you for ruining me in that scene because I remember the first thing you ever said to me was that AB, this is our first romantic scene together, and how can I fall in love with you? You're like my brother. JP uncle, how can I do those scenes when I consider him to be my brother?"

Abhishek and Kareena shared a great camaraderie until the latter's sister, Karisma Kapoor, decided to part ways with AB Jr. after several years of relationship. Previously, during an interview with Rajeev Masand, Kareena admitted that Abhishek held a special place in her heart. Sharing that it was sad how things went sour, Kareena said:
"I have always maintained that Abhishek is the first actor with whom I gave my first shot. To me, he holds a very special place in my heart that no actor and no person can ever take. When I look at him, I look at him with pride, joy, and with happiness. It’s sad things went sour."
