Fawad Khan has stepped back into Bollywood after a long break with the aim of bringing romance back to the silver screen alongside Vaani Kapoor.
Romance enthusiasts have been craving a magical romantic experience on screen. While actors and directors have tried different ways to bring entertaining content to the audience, the hopeless romantics have been feeling ignored on the big screen. However, to soothe this itch, Aarti S Bagdi has decided to bring back a man who ruled millions of hearts with his expressive eyes and warm voice.
Aarti S Bagdi is all set to introduce a new pairing to Bollywood, with Pakistan's ace actor, Fawad Khan, returning to the industry and Bollywood's very own, Vaani Kapoor, opposite him. Produced by Vivek B Agrawal, Avantika Hari, and Rakesh Sippy, the film seems to be a delightful promise of romance that will melt the audience. The teaser for the film, Abir Gulaal was shared on social media on April 1, 2025, and it has set the butterflies free.
The teaser showcased Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor inside a car in the pouring rain. The actor could be heard singing along to the song, Kuch Na Kaho. Kumar Sanu originally voiced the song for the film, 1942: A Love Story featuring Anil Kapoor and Manisha Koirala. The actor sang his heart out as Vaani listened to his soothing voice, completely mesmerised. While the audience will know more once the trailer for the film is released, the teaser did its work and has the audience's attention.
Apart from Fawad's reprised version of the song, the teaser also gave us a glimpse of a track in Arijit Singh's warm voice. Confirming that the film will deliver some brilliant musical plays. Abir Gulaal also seems to be on a different tangent than past films like Kabir Singh and Animal, which will be a breath of fresh air considering that the audience is over toxic masculinity and the portrayal of chaos as love. The viewers are eager to witness love in a mature, healthy and respectful light once again.
As soon as the video was shared by the makers, netizens started to chime in to share their views on the same. A user penned, "I hope this is not April Fool's." Another penned, "Earth is healing, Fawad is back in India." A user stated, "Bring the love back." A comment read, "The world is healing. This era is finally back."
Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor starrer will be released in theatres on May 9, 2025. However, the film is already at its first hurdle. As per a report by Dainik Bhaskar, MNS spokesperson, Ameya Khopkar has spoken against the release of the film in Maharashtra. He stated that they would not allow the film to be released in the state because of the presence of Fawad in the film. He added that they are preparing for their case and will make sure the film is not released under any circumstances. He was quoted as saying:
"Hume aaj hi is film ke release ki jaankari mili, jab film ke makers ne iska elaan kiya. Lekin hum saaf taur par yeh keh rahe hain ki hum is film ko Maharashtra mein release nahi hone denge, kyunki ismein Pakistani actor ki maujoodgi hai. Hum kisi bhi haal mein aisi films ko Maharashtra mein release nahi hone denge. Hum is film se judi aur bhi jaankari juta rahe hain aur fir is par apna poora bayan saamne rakhenge."
