Aditi Govitrikar exclusively opened up about the time when her son was in the NICU during her separation phase.
Actress, Aditi Govitrikar is a well-known name in the Bollywood film fraternity. The model-actress is all set to return with Mismatched Season 3, where she will play Rohit Saraf's mom. She married Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala in 1998, and they parted ways in 2009 after being married for 11 years. Aditi, who also studied medicine, is a mom to a daughter and a son. Aditi exclusively revealed her son was in the NICU, was serious when her divorce took place.
Aditi, in an exclusive interview with BollywoodShaadis, was asked about how her web show, Mismatched, showed couples going through many low phases. When asked about the personal lows she underwent in her life, the actress put up a brave front and spoke about how her son's condition was tough amid her divorce proceedings. In her words:
"I think the personal setback I went through was when my divorce happened. At that time, it was a very difficult phase for me because my personal life was not the only thing that was falling apart. My son was born when he was 6 and a half months, and he was in the NICU for almost a month. We didn't know if he would survive or not, as it was that bad. Every day to go into that NICU with, you know the feeling is he going to be there or not? That was very hard as a mother, and it was a tough time for me."
While thinking about her divorce, Aditi revealed that she always felt like she could have done this differently; however, retrospectively, everyone is smart. She also felt that she made the decision and behaved according to whatever knowledge she had at that time. There was no point in regretting anything, as that would not solve anything. However, it would have spoilt her present and future. Aditi further quipped:
"Ya sure things could have been different. Maybe I should have behaved differently. Maybe my ex-husband should have behaved differently. If's and but's mei life nikal jaegi aise karte jaenge toh. There is no point in going through that kind of conversation but to learn from whatever experience we have so that we do not make the same mistakes again. Again we evolve, and learn. That is my outlook."
Going ahead in the interview, the actress, who played Kalpana Singh, in Mismatched, is set to return to season 3 of the show. She revealed that her on-screen son, Rohit has been an outstanding actor firstly because she has seen him in The Sky Is Pink. In her words:
"He was fabulous, and besides that, when I got to know him personally, I was taken aback by his humility. He is a wonderful brought-up boy and thirdly, when I saw him dance. He is a fantastic dancer which came as a big surprise to me. I didn't know he was that good so that was a surprise for me. He is a surprise package."
Aditi said that when her kids are concerned, she does not plan for them as she feels that it is their life, and she does not want to impose what she thinks. She always wants to be there for them. She is okay with the fact that her kids do not want to do medical. In her words:
"That is how I encourage them, like neither of my kids wants to be a Dr. Both their father, and I are doctors, but they don't. It is not because either of us pushed them into not becoming a Dr. It is their choice, and I support them. As long as they are successful, good human beings and do their life. It should not be like they don't achieve anything. They should be achievers without any undue pressure. The right pressure is what I put. Parenting is very personal; things are different. I won't comment on anyone else's parenting either."
