Earlier, in an interview with the Humans of Bombay, Adnan Sami opened up about his decision to become an Indian citizen and give up his Pakistan citizenship back in 2016. In his response to the question, the critically acclaimed singer revealed that people have been mocking him for his decision since the day he announced that he finally gained India’s citizenship back in 2016.
Adnan admitted that people assumed he did it because of money. But, with a savage response to it, Adnan shared that none of them are aware of his family background. Revealing details about his wealthy family, he said:
"Some people in Pakistan turned around and said, ‘Oh, he has chosen India because he has got more money over there, he’s making more money over there. I said, ‘Excuse me, do you have any idea what my family background is? Do you have any idea that money has never been a factor in my life? I have been blessed to have been born and brought up in a very well-to-do, wealthy family."
Further, in the same interaction, Adnan Sami also shared how he left so many expensive things that he had inherited in Pakistan to move to India. The singer explained how money was never a problem for him, and the sole reason behind his decision to become an Indian citizen is the love, support and respect that he has received from Indians for all these years. The singer admitted that both as an artist and as a person, he had received a lot of admiration from the people of India, which played a huge role in his decision to get Indian citizenship.
