Dalljiet Kaur, who got married to Nikhil Patel in March 2023, is back in India within eight months of their marriage. While Dalljiet accused Nikhil of cheating on her in a cryptic note, the latter shared his stance in an interview with a leading media publication. His statement was clear that his marriage with Dalljiet is not legalised and only holds cultural value. Now, netizens have been reacting to Nikhil Patel's statement and how it is problematic.
Nikhil, in an interview with The Times Of India, clearly stated that when Dalljiet moved back to India with her son, it led to their separation. He stated that he had married Dalljiet as per the Indian wedding ceremony, but only held cultural significance and it has not legal binding. The statement irked the netizens, and taking to Reddit, they discussed the problematic behaviour, and how Dalljiet has been naive in rushing to get married to Nikhil.

Not only this, Nikhil added that they had cultural clashes and different values. He added that he had safely kept Dalljiet's belongings, and her departure from Kenya marked the end of their relationship. He added that despite Dalljiet's cyrptic social media activities, he had found peace in moving on. A section of the netizens expressed their point of view. On user wrote, "This man is POS. Typical behaviour of not owning up to mistakes and gaslighting the spouse."
Another one commented, "I'll just say that she's too naive." One of the users also hinted at how their marriage is not legal in Kenya, and Dalljiet can only drag him to Indian court. The user wrote, "She basically did everything except securing herself from legal challenges. It is complicated when either party is not an Indian citizen in a marriage and the thing to be focused along with religious ceremonies and celebrations is figuring out the legal aspect."
In January 2024, murmurs of Dalljiet and Nikhil's separation made rounds on the internet. While for a few months, Dalljiet kept quiet, thinking about her family's dignity, Dalljiet finally broke her silence and revealed how her husband, Nikhil, had denied getting married to her. In a cryptic note written in Hindi, Dalljiet penned a heartbreaking note. She revealed her clothes, her chooda, her mandir, everything is in Kenya at her husband's home. The clothes of her son and his books are all there, but her husband is denying them and saying they never got married. Not only this, she also questioned whether she never got married to Nikhil. However, Dalljiet soon deleted the note from her IG handle.
