The cupid struck them with its sharpest love arrow on the sets of Mani Ratnam’s film, Guru. And before the release of the film, Abhishek played his cards and proposed the beauty queen, Aishwarya. The two were in New York prior to the release of the film, when Abhishek went down on his knees in a hotel’s balcony and popped the question with a ring, and rest, as they say, is a history.
After so many years of ‘happily-ever-after’, Aishwarya remembers every little detail of that day. Don’t believe us? Well, in a recent interview with Filmfare, the actress recalled the time when the host asked her if she remembers the time when Abhishek proposed to her. Aishwarya said, “Of course’, I remember. During the shoot of Jodha Akbar's song 'Khwaja Mere Khwaja', sitting as a bride, and I am like, omg this is surreal, all happening on-screen, off-screen, this is bizarre and Ashutosh is like you are engaged and I am like what.” Check out the video here: (Also Read: Ayushmann Khurrana And Tahira Kashyap Share Special Wishes For Son Virajveer On His Birthday)
For over a decade, the two have been setting hashtag couple goals and in a way, we have grown up watching this modern-day love story. In an earlier interview with Filmfare, Aishwarya opened about her marriage and how time passed. She said, “Oh my God, I can’t believe it. How time flies! The journey’s been like a blink of an eye. It’s great that time is flying by so quickly and we’re not feeling the years. That’s a great sign.”
Aishwarya further revealed how the marriage has brought a good change in her and said, “In life, change is the only constant. It’s good to change. But it’s not something I’ll write home about. You have to be conscious about a change of phase in your life. You can’t just sail through everything and drift along. That means you’re not investing, you’re not experiencing, you’re not giving to it and taking back. You need to have that ‘exchange’ in all your relationships, be it with your parents, with your friends, your professionals and most importantly marriage. Because it’s not just two individuals coming together. Rather it’s about two families coming together. It’s your lives that you’re sharing. There are strong influences. We’re equally aware and conscious of embracing each other’s side and today we’re one. Two people who marry and decide to spend their life together should have that kind of exchange. So I’ve chosen to lean on exchange as opposed to change.” (You May Also Like: Tina Datta Of Uttaran Fame Was In An Abusive Relationship For 5 Years, Share Heart-Wrenching Story)
Aishwarya also talked about the father of her child, Abhishek and what makes him special. She said, “He’s special because he’s himself. He’s a normal guy. When he walks into a room, he carries his lineage and his upbringing. It’s all out there in the obvious and yet you know he’s a guy in the room you can have a conversation with, you can hang out with, you can have fun with, you can have an intense conversation with. He’s someone who’ll have a straight face even as he jokes with you. He was born into showbiz and he has a lineage to carry. Despite all that, there’s nothing showbiz about him. That’s the nicest part. He’s relatable and engaging as a person. And he’s my man, the father of my child.”
Aww, they are our favourite B-town couple!
