Throwback to the time when Aishwarya Rai gave a befitting response when asked about her weight gain post her pregnancy.
Aishwarya Rai is the epitome of beauty and grace, and she aces both her professional and personal life with ease. In 2011, the diva embraced motherhood with the arrival of her daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan. More than motherhood, her post-delivery weight became the topic of discussion. She was all over the headlines and was badly trolled for the same.
Once, in a throwback interview after delivering Aaradhya, Aishwarya was again criticised for her weight and was asked when she was planning to get rid of the pregnancy weight. Not only did she reply to him, but she also gave a befitting response and said:
“It’s not something that I really need to even be discussing giving so much attention to. It’s normal. It was natural in my case. That was the natural turn that my body took in terms of whether I gained weight or I had water retention or whatever else that goes with the space. I was comfortable.”
In the same interaction, Aishwarya Rai also spoke about being comfortable in her own skin despite the weight gain. She also emphasised that despite her body weight, she had not stopped getting out in public, and it is her sheer confidence that she has been doing the same. In her words:
“I stepped out in public when I could take time out from my baby. And if I did think it a big deal, I would have been in hiding or would have done something about it. So if want to lose it overnight, it is possible. But that’s not the choice that I was making and I pretty much made that evident. And I wasn’t disturbed by it. If people were, well I guess, I hope they enjoyed the drama because I was busy leading a very real life. With my baby.”

It was after four years of marital bliss that Aishwarya Rai hopped on to motherhood and welcomed Aaradhya in 2011. Aishwarya's pregnancy journey was not a bed of roses since she had a late pregnancy. But she worked hard to keep herself healthy so she could give birth to her daughter through a normal delivery. She had gained weight but was adamant that she would not go under any pressure and would take her time to return to her usual self. And when the diva made her come back on the big screen after her pregnancy with the films, Jazbaa followed by Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, her magical transformation made everyone stop and stare.
Aishwarya faced a lot of body shaming after her delivery, but the actress was firm and didn’t let the negativity affect her. Back in 2017, Aishwarya’s hubby, Abhishek Bachchan, addressed her body shaming issue in an interview with a leading publication and said:
“When she became a mother her career took a backseat. Today, she does everything for Aaradhya. She is supermom. Soon after Aaradhya was born, the media went at her about her weight gain. Nasty things were written, which really upset me. If that upset her, she said nothing. ‘’Water off a duck’s back’’ said Aishwarya when she saw me perturbed. Anyone who knows her would know that she has never spent a day in the gym.”
