Akshay Kumar does not like to take his wife, Twinkle Khanna, for his movie screenings. Read ahead, to know the reason behind it.
Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna are one of Bollywood's most powerful couples. Their relationship has a playful spark, and the duo is honest about each other's work. However, do you know that the 'Khiladi' of Bollywood does not like to take his wife, Twinkle, to his movie screenings? Twinkle, a former actress who left Hindi movies to become an established author, wears her opinions on her sleeves, is blunt, has humour, and unapologetic, unfiltered views in her writings.
The Hindustan Times hosted a recent event at which Akshay Kumar opened up about how his family has always been very critical of his work. Even if he takes her, she slams the scenes, the movie, and the climax. Khiladi Kumar remembered an incident where he had taken Twinkle to the screening of one of his films. The movie's producer was also present, and Twinkle left no stone unturned in slamming the movie in front of the producer. In the words of Akshay:
"The first time I took her for my trial, the producer came and asked how she found the film, she called it bakwas (terrible). That producer never worked with me again. I don’t take my wife for screenings so I have to sit with her and show her the film. And it falls in my ears, yeh bekaar hai."
Further in the interview, Akshay Kumar revealed that he was used to hearing true feedback from Twinkle, which was blunt. However, the Singham Again actor sometimes gets jealous of his wife, speaking her mind. He also said that Twinkle liked Khel Khel Mein, even if the movie did not work, but it was close to his heart.
Akshay and Twinkle married on January 17, 2001, and completed 23 years of marriage. The duo reportedly started dating when they worked in International Khiladi (1999), Umesh Mehra's action movie. The couple is blessed by Aarav and Nitara. However, do you know that their relationship began with a fling? Twinkle spoke about the same thing on Karan Johar's chat show, Koffee With Karan. She quipped:
"I had come out of a long-term relationship and I wanted to just, for the first time in my life, have a fling. So I decided I was going to have one. There he was, '6 feet of chocolate ice cream', I'm going to have a fling with him and it's going to last fifteen days." However, destiny had other plans!"
Twinkle had no intention of marrying Akshay soon, but he wanted to take things forward. They had a bet, if Mela did not perform well at the box office, she would marry him. Twinkle was sure that her career would rise as an actress and was confident Mela would do well at the box office. However, Akshay knew that the film would flop. When he appeared on Koffee With Karan show, he revealed:
"She was very confident about Mela and said that if the film didn’t work, she would get married. Fortunately for me, Mela flopped, and we got married."
