But did you know that Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin is a Hindi remake of Hollywood film, It Happened One Night? Now given a chance, whom would you want to see if Bollywood remakes this Mahesh Bhatt directorial iconic film? Well, Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter and Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin actress, Pooja Bhatt had already decided on whom she would want to see in her and Aamir Khan’s role if ever the film is remade. And it’s none other than her superstar sister, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor!
We got our hands on a video of Alia Bhatt, wherein she was questioned about working with Ranbir Kapoor, by the journalists. During the promotions of her debut film, Student Of The Year, Alia clarified that her sister Pooja Bhatt wants to cast her and Ranbir for Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin remake, but that’s not happening anytime soon. Alia had said, "That was just something that my sister Pooja had mentioned that if she ever wants to remake Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, she will want to do it with me and probably Ranbir, but that's just something she said. That's not happening."
Alia Bhatt has been vocal about her ‘crush’ on Ranbir Kapoor and her wish to work with him. Finally, after 6 years in the industry, Alia’s wish was granted and the whole universe (or we can say, Ayan Mukerji) conspired and managed to get them together on a film project. In the same interview when the journalist asked Alia if there’s anyone in the industry apart from Ranbir, she wants to work with, Alia instantly replied, “I have always loved Ranbir and I love him even more after Barfi. He is my biggest crush and will always remain my biggest crush.”
Recently, in an interview with Filmfare, Alia Bhatt got candid about her relationship with Ranbir Kapoor and revealed that he is a gem. The Raazi actress said, "It’s not a relationship. It’s a friendship. I’m saying this with all genuineness and honesty. It’s beautiful. I’m walking on stars and clouds right now. The best part is that we’re two individuals, who are living our own professional lives in its full form right now." Sharing being busy with their respective professional commitments to be the reason behind not being spotted together often, Alia further described her comfortable relationship as, “Nazar na lage”. When asked about Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘troubled past’ and ‘difficult’ reputation, Alia Bhatt stated, “Aur main thodi kam hoon? He’s not difficult. He’s a gem. Ranbir’s my brilliant friend.” Alia Bhatt’s dialogue, “Mere boyfriend se gulu gulu karegi toh dhoptungi na usko”, created a rage on the internet and people became crazy over her character in Gully Boy. During the promotions of the film, Alia was asked if she is a possessive girlfriend in real-life too, like her character of Safeena Firdausi in Gully Boy.
In an interview with the Deccan Chronicle, Alia Bhatt had replied, "I am not at all a possessive girlfriend. It is about giving a free hand to your partner because I have been bought up in a way where we give space to each other. We are very trustworthy and loyal and we expect and believe the same out of the other relationships in our life."
Recently, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor won Filmfare awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) for Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi and Best Actor in a Leading Role for Rajkumar Hirani’s, Sanju, respectively, and it was the first time when the former had expressed her love so openly for her ‘special one’. In her winning speech, Alia Bhatt had said, "Meghna, for me, 'Raazi' is you, your blood and sweat. You are my main chick. Vicky, without you, the film wouldn’t be complete. Thank you, my mentor, Karan for being my mentor, father, and my fashion police.” However, the highlight of the night was when she called Ranbir Kapoor her ‘special one’.
