In a recent interview, Alia Bhatt opened about Bollywood stars who influence her the most. Read on to know more.
Alia Bhatt is one of the most young and promising actresses of Bollywood. After making her debut with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year, she has given back-to-back successful films. She is married to actor, Ranbir Kapoor, and now, the couple is enjoying the parenthood with their little daughter, Raha Kapoor. The actress' beauty and versatility have no match in the industry. However, she has recently revealed that three actors inspire her and influence her acting decisions.
During her promotional spree for her upcoming film, Jigra, Alia Bhatt did an interview with Allure magazine. During her interview, she not only talked about her pregnancy experiences and Raha’s behaviour at home, but also revealed her inspiration from Indian cinema. It is quite normal for actors to take inspiration from their co-actors or veteran actors. Similarly, Alia revealed that she is most influenced by Shah Rukh Khan, veteran actress, Rekha, and Aishwarya Rai.
When asked why Aishwarya influences her, Alia said that the actress has embodied dance in the most beautiful way on screen. She also revealed that Aishwarya has guided and mentored her many times. Going into the deets, Alia said that she practised on Aishwarya Rai’s songs whenever she had to shoot one. This way, she learnt all the dancing expressions and moves from the Kajra Re girl. In her own words:
“When it comes to learning or being inspired by someone who has embodied dance in the most beautiful way on screen, I can't help but think of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan… Whenever I had a song, I'd go to YouTube, type ‘Aishwarya Rai songs,’ and it'd come, and I'd be looking at all her songs just to catch the expressions and just the way she moves from one move to another, the ease, the way she just lets herself be, but at the same time, it's just so perfect and so precise…”
Alia looks up to the veteran actress, Rekha when it comes to making decisions related to beauty. Calling Rekha an ‘icon for ages’, Alia recalled that she had struggled with walking and holding herself in the immense crowd and high-pressure moments. However, it was Rekha who helped her become naturally confident. Alia said:
“When it comes to Indian cinema, there's one person who redefined/defined beauty, and that is Rekha. She's just an icon for the ages. Whether it was her red lips or her long hair or the way she did her eyes, the iconic flowers or gajras in her hair, that look in her eyes, which obviously you can't create; it only comes from within. But she's truly left the largest impact in India and all over the world with the beauty standards she's set.”
When it comes to creating iconic scenes in the film, no one can beat the King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan. Just like every girl who looks up to the famous DDLJ ‘palat’ scene and manifests it to happen in real life, Alia Bhatt also does the same. She said that she craves for the recreation of this scene. The famous scene from Aditya Chopra’s directorial, DDLJ, features Shah Rukh’s character, ‘Raj’ and Kajol’s character, ‘Simran’. In the scene, ‘Raj’ wishes ‘Simran’ to ‘palat’, and he believes that if she does, then she also loves him.
