Senior artist, Seema Pahwa shared how Alia Bhatt behaved with everyone on the sets on 'Gangubai Kathiadwadi' and saved a child artist from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's wrath.
Alia Bhatt is one of the leading actresses in Bollywood, and she has back-to-back hits in her kitty. As the actress is reaching new milestones in her professional life, her personal life is filled with happiness due to her daughter, Raha and husband, Ranbir Kapoor. The family is loved by the masses, and everyone is obsessed with the cuteness of the little one.
Seema Pahwa and Manoj Pahwa recently sat for an interview with Pinkvilla Hindi Rush, where the former revealed that Alia respected everyone on the sets of Gangubai Kathiadwadi. She added that before working with Alia, she had a preconceived notion about Alia that the starkid might be obnoxious as she hails from such a successful family. But, Alia treated her with utmost respect. In Seema's words:
"Back in my mind I was anticipating, 'she is a new girl and from a film family, I wonder how she would be as a person.' But, I was surprised. She treated me with a lot of respect. Maybe because Sanjay introduced me to her as a senior actor. But, one incident on set changed my perspective about her."
Seema Pahwa shared that during one of the scenes in the film, a young girl had to pretend to sleep in a scene and then had to get up and recite a line. However, as the shooting was going on for a long time, the girl was sleepy and was unable to deliver the line properly. This scene agitated Sanjay Leela Bhansali as he had to take multiple retakes.
Seeing the situation, Alia stepped in and helped the little girl. Alia Bhatt told the little girl that she would pull her arm, and then she can say her lines. This eased the process for the little girl, and the shot got over without any further issues. Seema further added:
"There was a scene with a young girl, who was pretending to be asleep and then had to say one dialogue. They were shooting for that one scene for a long time. It was about 3 in the morning. The child was sleepy. So, every time she went to the bed, she would actually fall asleep and miss her dialogue. This made Sanjay furious and irritated. He was yelling, 'why is she falling asleep every time?' It was at this time that Alia Bhatt came to her rescue. I saw it myself. She instructed the child artist that 'when I will pull your arm, you say your dialogue.' It was a selfless gesture, it impressed me."
In the same conversation with Pinkvilla’s Hindi Rush, Manoj Pahwa shared his positive experiences of working with Ranbir Kapoor in a few advertisements and Alia Bhatt in a short film. His admiration for the actors was palpable as he mentioned his work with Ranbir’s father, Rishi Kapoor and his grand uncle, Shammi Kapoor. Pahwa's inspiring journey in the industry was evident as he shared a humorous incident where Ranbir once quipped:
“Sir, hopefully aap mere bachchon ke sath bhi kaam karenga."
Manoj Pahwa conveyed his admiration for Ranbir and Alia as actors. He said, “Bahut hi kamaal ke hain dono.” He also called them a ‘power couple.’ Pahwa also praised Ranbir's ability to effortlessly switch between intense and light-hearted roles, and Alia's dedication to her characters, citing her performance in films.
