In a recent interview with Vogue India, actress, Alia Bhatt talked about the nepotism debate and shared what she thought about the audience.
One of the most loved Bollywood actress who won the hearts of her fans by her grace and talent is none other than Alia Bhatt. The actress started reigning in the hearts of her fans through her acting skills in the movie, Gangubai Kathiawadi. Alia is now living the best days of her life as she hopped onto the forever journey with the love of her life, Ranbir Kapoor, and soon left her footprints in the parenthood journey by welcoming their daughter, Raha. However, the young actress often makes it to the headlines with her luxurious living, personal life, and statements.
We all know that the nepotism debate in Bollywood never gets old. For the unversed, Alia is the daughter of Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan, so even after giving her best shots in her films, she cannot escape the tag of being a nepo kid. However, we now and again find the actress breaking her silence on such a topic. The same thing happened again during her interview with Vogue India.
While speaking to Vogue India, actress, Alia Bhatt was asked about being tagged as a nepo kid. While answering the question, Alia Bhatt admitted that although nepotism initially gave her an easy head start, but it can only lead an actor so far since, in the end, what matters the most is the audience's decision. The actress said that what she can do is make a body that proves the fact that she belongs to the industry. She added that it provides one with a room in which that person must work constantly. And the best judge of your talent is no one but the audience. The actress stated:
"The only thing I can do is build a body of work which hopefully proves I belong in this industry. And sure, it will get you in the room, but then it’s up to you to work that room. The audience is actually the best judge of talent. You could come from a background that props you up but the audience will ultimately decide whether or not you belong there."

It was back in 2022 when Alia Bhatt talked about her feelings about being tagged as a nepo kid. While talking to Mid-Day, the actress stated that she could only stop the conversation with her movies. She said she felt terrible, but it was a small price to pay for the work she is respected and loved for. The actress added that she chose to keep mum and continue working. As a result, she could deliver a film like Gangubai Kathiawadi.

In the same interview, the actress also stated that she couldn't defend herself verbally, and if anyone does not like her, they are open to not liking her and not watching her. The actress stated that she would prove her worth with her movies and couldn't control where she was born and what her parents had been doing. Alia Bhatt stated:
"So, who’s having the last laugh? At least until I deliver my next flop? For now, I am laughing! At the end of the day, use that to fuel your work. I can’t keep defending myself verbally. And if you don’t like me, don’t watch me. I can’t help it. That’s something I can’t do (anything about). People have something to say. Hopefully, I will prove to them with my movies that I am actually worth the space I occupy. How can I control where I am born? How can I control what my parents were doing? You want me to feel embarrassed for the hard work my father did. It comes easier to me, yes, but I am also working hard for the work that I got."
A few days ago, the global icon, Priyanka Chopra, while talking in Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, said that she was terrified when six of her movies didn't do well because she was not a nepo baby. PeeCee said:
"I was terrified when those 6 movies didn’t do well because I’m not a nepo baby. I didn’t have that kind of support which exists in a big way in Bollywood movies. You don’t have your uncle making a new movie for you just because your last one tanked."
