Allu Arjun's decision to surprise his fans with the release of his massively anticipated film, Pushpa 2: The Rise, took a turn for the worst when what was meant to be a delightful surprise turned into an unfortunate series of events. The actor has been the centre of the controversy ever since. For the unversed, Allu Arjun has been facing severe allegations after a woman named Revathi died. Her eight-year-old child got seriously injured due to a stampede situation during the screening of Pushpa 2: The Rise.
The actor visited the Sandhya Theater on December 4, 2024, to surprise his fans during the screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule. However, things took a turn for the worse when his presence caused a ruckus and the death of Revathi. The incident resulted in Allu Arjun being arrested in connection to this case. The actor recently broke the silence on his ongoing character assassination and called the stampede incident unfortunate but an accident. He shared that he is getting hourly updates on the injured boy named, Sri Tej. He stated:
"I am getting hourly updates about how the kid is doing. He is progressing. The only good thing is that the boy is getting better. The main reason for the press meet is that there is a lot of miscommunication, misinformation and wrong allegations. I am feeling extremely humilated by the character assassination."
This press conference was held right after Chief Minister of the state of Telangana, Revanth Reddy, alleged that the actor was advised against the visit. The CM said that Allu Arjun had made an appearance at the screening despite the police warning against it. He was quoted as:
"Before entering the theatre and while exiting, the actor stood through the sunroof of his car and waved to the crowds, leading to thousands of fans jostling to get a glimpse of him."
Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13, 2024, in connection with a fan's death at Pushpa 2: The Rule premiere. The court charged the actor with Section 105 for culpable homicide, Section 118 (1) for voluntarily causing harm and Section 3 (5) for negligence related to public safety under the Indian Penal Code. He was sent to judicial custody for 14 days. However, Telangana High Court granted interim bail to the actor.
