Amitabh Bachchan Honored With The Dada Saheb Phalke Award, Abhishek Calls Him His Inspiration

The charisma of Amitabh Bachchan is not hidden from anyone and the awards on his shelf at his residence are a proof for the same. On December 29, 2019, one more jewel was added on Amit Ji’s bejewelled hat as he was awarded the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award. His wife, Jaya Bachchan and his son, Abhishek Bachchan accompanied him to Delhi as he received the award. Amit ji was showered with praises and wishes form all across the world and his son, Abhishek also took to his Instagram handle and shared a picture of his father and wished him by calling him, his inspiration. Abhishek shared a solo picture of Amit ji and captioned it as “My inspiration. My hero. Congratulations Pa on the Dadasahab Phalke award. We are all so, so proud of you. Love you.”

On receiving the prestigious award, Amitabh Bachchan also took to the stage and acknowledged the same. He was quoted as saying, “Jab iss puruskar ki ghoshna hui to mere mann mein ek sandeh utha. Ki kya kahin ye sanket hai mere liye ki bhai sahab aapne bahut kaam kar liya, ab ghar baith ke aaram kar lijiye. Amitabh Bachchan also took to his official blog and thanked everyone for their constant support and love. He shared the pictures from the award ceremony and wrote, "There are times in the life of us all when we assimilate without any assimilation of the times past and gone by. when the years strike back at you and you wonder whether are you really the eldest in the gathering then a sudden temperament invades the being and there is a silent thought that wishes for us all to do for them that have none .. .. these pictures say it all. I am in pride for the recognition .. I am in pride for the recognition of my profession .. I am in pride of my Country and my Film Industry,” His daughter, Shweta Bachchan Nanda couldn’t attend the award ceremony but didn’t miss a chance to wish her father. She commented on Abhishek Bachchan’s post, “Love you Papa so well deserved. Missed being there.”

In an interview with the PTI, Amit ji talked about receiving the award and said, "When this award was announced, a doubt arose in my mind: if this is an indication for me to sit at home and relax after working for so many years? There is some more work I have to finish and certain possibilities are coming up where I may get a chance to do some work. I just wanted some clarification on this. God has been kind, there have been blessings of my parents, the support of the filmmakers, producers, co-actors from the industry, but I'm most indebted to the love and constant encouragement by the Indian audience. That's the reason I'm standing here. I accept this award with utmost humility and gratitude."

Abhishek Bachchan has always praised his father, Amitabh Bachchan and never leaves a chance to talk about the same on media interactions and interviews. In November 2019, Amit ji had completed 50 years in the film industry and his son, Abhishek had taken to his Instagram handle and shared a solo picture of Amit ji form his adulthood days and had captioned it as “Not just as a son, but as an actor and a fan... We are all blessed to witness the greatness! There is so much to admire, to learn and even more to appreciate. Several generations of cinema lovers get to say we lived in the times of BACHCHAN!!! On Koffee With Karan season 6, Karan Johar had asked Abhishek Bachchan about what it is like to live under the constant pressure and expectations that come from being Amitabh Bachchan’s son. To this, Junior B had replied, “It’s very difficult Karan.
