Amitabh Bachchan recently schooled a contestant on 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 16' for his sexist remarks about unmarried women. Big B taught him a valuable lesson.
Amitabh Bachchan is one of the stellar names in the Indian entertainment industry. Also known as the 'Angry Young Man' of Indian cinema, the actor has been ruling the hearts of millions for over five decades now. The 81-year-old actor has given us some of the classic films of all time, and he still continues to amaze people with his acting prowess today. Apart from being an actor, Amitabh also took up hosting duties and debuted in the reality TV genre with Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2000.
In the ongoing season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, the show's host, Amitabh Bachchan, schooled a contestant for tagging unmarried women as 'burden'. The situation unfolded when a contestant named Krishna Selukar talked about losing his job during the COVID-19 pandemic despite being well-educated. He drew parallels between his situation and that of unmarried women and said:
"Agar mei kahu bina shadi ki ladki gharwalo par bojh hoti hai na sir, ek umar hone ke baad berozgar ladke utna hi bojh hote hai."
Krishna's sexist remarks did not go down well with Big B, and he immediately cut off the contestant while reprimanding him for his opinion. The Bollywood actor, who has always been vocal about various societal issues, shared that a woman can be anything but never a burden on a family. He further added that women are always an honour. Amitabh Bachchan was quoted as saying:
"Ek baat batayein aapko. Ladki joh hai bojh kabhi nai ban sakti. Bahut badi shaan hoti hai mahila."
Amitabh Bachchan, who has been hosting the quiz-based game show, KBC since its inception in India, shared an emotional message on the ongoing season's premiere night. On the first episode of the show's 16th season, Big B thanked everyone from the bottom of his heart for their continuous support, which gave KBC a new life. He was quoted as saying:
"Today marks the start of a new season. But I’m a little short of words today. And that’s because no word has the capacity to convey the gratitude for your love. I can’t come up with the words to thank you for your prayers which gave a new life to Kaun Banega Crorepati, which illuminated this stage again, and which reunited a family and allowed me to be present among you. I salute this country’s people for the resurrection, rebuilding, and rebirth of KBC."
During the final episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 15, the veteran actor, Amitabh Bachchan was seen getting teary-eyed. In a promotional video posted on Sony TV’s Instagram page, the host of the show was seen getting emotional while bidding farewell to the last season. Many of his fans got emotional after watching the video, as they thought he was retiring from the show. In the video, the 81-year-old actor was seen donning a maroon-hued tuxedo, which he paired with a white shirt and a silver-coloured tie. He could be seen saying:
“Devi aur sajjano, ab hum jaa rahe aur kal se yeh manch ab nahi sajega. Apno se yeh keh pana ki kal se hum yahan nahi aa payenge, na kehne ki himmat hoti aur na kehne ka mann hota hai. Main Amitabh Bachchan iss daur ke liye, iss manch se akhri baar kehne jaa raha hu, shubraatri, shubraatri, shubraatri.”
After rising to meteoric fame as the 'Angry Young Man' of India in the 1970s, Amitabh Bachchan's career declined in the 1980s, and he had a series of box office failures. However, his career was resurrected when he started hosting the quiz-based show, Kaun Banega Crorepati. More recently, the 81-year-old was seen in the sci-fi film, Kalki 2898 AD, which has grossed over Rs. 1000 crore at the box office. Amitabh Bachchan, who is now busy with the 16th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, will be next seen in Section 84 and Vettaiyan.
