Amitabh Bachchan reached 45 million followers on Twitter. On this occasion, one of his fans shared a throwback picture of him and the actor reveals why the picture was ‘special’ to him.
The Shahenshah of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan is an inspiration to millions, who dream each day to make it big in Bollywood. The living legend of Indian cinema has an array of fine cinema to his credit. After an initial hiccup with some flops, he rose to fame with 1973 hit film, Zanjeer and since then, there was no looking back for him. But in July 1982, the entire nation had held their breath when the news headlines had flashed a fatal accident of Amitabh Bachchan on the sets of his film, Coolie. The entire nation had prayed for him as he had battled for his life and on August 2, 1982, the actor was reborn. To give an insight of what happened on the fateful day, it was an intense fight sequence between Amit ji and Puneet Issar. As Amit ji was suppose to land on the table, but instead, he misjudged the jump and landed with the edge of the table hitting his abdomen, causing massive internal haemorrhage. When he was rushed to the hospital, he was declared ‘clinically dead’ for a few minutes. But with multiple surgeries and the prayers of his family and fans brought him back to life.

Along with the throwback picture, Amit ji revealed why the picture is close to his heart as it was from the time when he had come home surviving his Coolie accident. Amit ji wrote, “The picture and caption from a fan announces the 45 million I have reached on Twitter, but the picture says a lot more... It’s the moment I came home after surviving from death after my ‘Coolie’ accident… It’s the first time ever I saw my Father break down… A very concerned Abhishek on the side looks on.”
It's been 38 years and the Bachchan family and Amit ji’s fans still remember the day vividly, when the entire nation had prayed and chanted for their superstar. On August 2, 2019, Abhishek Bachchan had recalled the incident. He had taken to his IG handle and had posted a monochrome picture with his sister (Shweta Nanda) and father post the accident. Along with the picture, he had written, "#flashbackfriday 37 years ago in the Breach Candy hospital. My father was recovering from a near-fatal accident on the sets of his film Coolie. Today- 2nd August we celebrate his second birthday as he was miraculously revived by the doctors on this day. Happy Birthday, Pa! Love you. #TrueLegendsAreBornTwice". On Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, the Bachchan clan including Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan had made an appearance and the host of the show, Simi Garewal had made them recall the horrifying incident. When Simi Garewal had asked Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan if they were aware of the gravity of their father’s fatal accident on the sets of Coolie, Shweta, who was then 8-year-old, had replied, “I don’t think we knew how serious he was.” And Abhishek, who was then 6-year-old, had retorted, “Much later.”
Narrating an incident with Abhishek from the time, Amit ji was critical, Jaya Bachchan had shared, “There was one time when Abhishek had a huge, a very bad Asthma attack.
