In a recent interview, Vijayta Pandit got candid about her love story with Kumar Gaurav and revealed how other actors also fell in love while shooting on the sets.
Former actress, Vijayta Pandit made her acting debut with the 1981 film, Love Story, alongside Kumar Gaurav. The two actors fell for each other during the film's shoot, and soon, rumours of their alleged relationship were all over the news. However, their union was against Gaurav's father, Rajendra Kumar’s wishes. But the actor was adamant to marry Vijayta, despite being engaged to Raj Kapoor’s daughter, Rima Kapoor.
In an interview with Lehren Retro, Vijayta Pandit opened up about her love story with Kumar Gaurav and recalled how romance brewed between them on the sets. She shared that he was the first boy she hugged, and that was the first time a boy touched her, so she couldn't control her emotions. Vijayta revealed that Bunty was very fond of her and said:
“Bunty (Kumar Gaurav) was the first boy I hugged during the shoot for Love Story. That was the first time a boy was touching me, so we both fell in love… Bunty was very fond of me; he would keep following me, holding my hands and dancing… he used to be a very charming boy."
She further added that she and Gaurav can't be blamed for falling in love on the set of Love Story, as when people do such films together, they feel the spark between them. However, she also mentioned that actor-duos like Rishi Kapoor-Dimple Kapadia and Sunny Deol-Amrita Singh also fell in love in real life while showcasing their romance in reel life. In her words:
"Any love stories you look at, be it Rishi Kapoor-Dimple Kapadia’s Bobby, Sunny Deol-Amrita Singh’s Betaab, Sanjay Dutt and Tina Munim’s Rocky, all these actors fell in love in real life. With such films, you have to get into it, feel the romance…”
Vijayta Pandit was once head-over-heels in love with Kumar Gaurav, but their love story didn't get a fairytale ending. After parting ways with Kumar, she fell in love with her film, Car Thief’s director, Sameer Malkan, and married him in 1986. However, the duo got separated a few years later. Vijayta gave love another chance and tied the knot with eminent music composer, Aadesh Srivastava in 1990. But the veteran actress became a struggling widow after her husband succumbed to death in 2015 due to cancer. Vijayta has been raising their two kids, Avitesh Shrivastava and Anivesh Shrivastava, single-handedly ever since her husband's demise.
Coming back to the much-talked affair of Amrita Singh-Sunny Deol and Rishi Kapoor-Dimple Kapadia, it is all in the past. While Sunny Deol is married to his wife, Pooja Deol, Amrita Singh tied the knot to Saif Ali Khan. However, Saif and Amrita called it quits after a few years of marriage. On the other hand, late Rishi Kapoor exchanged wedding vows with Neetu Kapoor and left for the heavenly abode in 2020. Meanwhile, Dimple Kapadia married Rajesh Khanna, and the latter passed away in 2012.
