Their statement read, “From the Kapoor & Ahuja families, The Kapoor & Ahuja families, take great joy and pride, in announcing the marriage of Sonam & Anand. The wedding will take place on the 8th of May in Mumbai. Since it is an intimate affair, we request you to respect the family's need for privacy. Thank you for all your blessings and love, as we celebrate this special moment in our lives. Thanks and Regards”.
Just yesterday, at the Kapoor residence, Sonam Kapoor’s mehendi took place, and whos-who of Mumbai graced the occasion. Karan Johar, Janhvi Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, Kirron Kher and Mohit Marwah, to name a few, were present at the wedding. Donned in a pastel pink coloured dress, with henna on her hands, Sonam looked every bit resplendent in her mehendi. And now after the mehendi, everyone is waiting for the D-day tomorrow. We all know that a shaadi is not just a union of two souls and families, but it goes beyond that for the life partners. There are expectations and dreams and not to mention, compromises as well. As for Sonam and Anand, there would be one rule that the both of them would have to abide by. To a leading online portal, Sonam was quoted as saying, “It's a rule basically Anand has put on both of us. Right before I sleep I have to put my phone on charging in the bathroom or I charge it in the hall of other room”.
Well, that’s a good rule, right? In a world, so embedded in the screenshot and selfie culture, doing away with your phones, at least before hitting the bed, is the best thing possible. Sonam also revealed why she had been so tight-lipped about her relationship with Anand all this while. She said, “Social media is in my control. I am not going to disrespect this person and be like that he doesn't exist in my life. At the same time, I am not going to disrespect that person by speaking about him and other people interpreting in a different way. So I will not talk about it or hide it”. Coming back to the dreams and expectations that come post-wedding, Sonam Kapoor, years ago, in Simi Garewal’s show, had revealed that she would gift her man a collection of poems that she has written over the years. The poems, interestingly, highlight Sonam’s dreams with her future husband and her wish to make those dreams come true. She had said, “I have written quite a few poems but there was this one poem that I wrote when I was around 16 years old. It is called Ambition. I had promised myself that as soon as I find the person that I'm going to be with, I'm going to give him that poem. The day I get married, the poem will be with that man and I'll say that this is what I want my life to be like and hopefully, we can work together towards this”. Reports suggest that Veere Di Wedding actress, and her entrepreneur boyfriend and soon-to-be husband, would shift to Notting Hill, London after their wedding where the couple have bought an apartment. Sonam would keep travelling back and forth for her professional commitments in India.
