Ankita Lokhande finally broke her silence on the real reason behind her bringing up Sushant Singh Rajput's name again and again on 'Bigg Boss 17'.
Ankita Lokhande and Sushant Singh Rajput made their acting debut together with the show, Pavitra Rishta, and they fell in love with each other. For the unversed, Ankita and Sushant dated for seven years before they broke up. Later, in June 2020, the actor was found dead in his apartment. Ever since Ankita participated in Bigg Boss 17, she has often shared anecdotes about him and their relationship on the show. Now, she clarified that she has not been speaking about SSR for strategy's sake.
In the latest episode of Bigg Boss 17, the media entered the BB house to speak with the contestants. During the same, Ankita Lokhande was asked if she was bringing up Sushant Singh Rajput’s name again and again to lure his fandoms, she denied. Revealing the reason behind talking about SSR, the actress said that she opened up about him because he was a nice person, and she felt that she could tell some good things about him through this platform. Ankita said:
“No, it is nothing like that. Abhishek and I used to keep talking about Sushant as he considers him as his idol and really looks up to him. He wants to be like Sushant and considers him as his inspiration. I’ve always talked only good things about Sushant because I feel if I can tell some good things about him through this platform, why not? Usne acche kaam kiye hain, and I can speak about it because jitna main unke baare mein jaanti hoon and I’ve seen his journey."

Speaking along the same lines, Ankita Lokhande added that she feels very proud while talking about Sushant and that there is nothing wrong with it. She further shared that no one knows the late actor as much as her, so she feels like telling people about how good a human he was. Ankita believes that some young boy out there would like to become like Sushant, and she will definitely talk to him. In her words:
“And I’ve explained the same about him. I feel very proud to talk about Sushant wherever I am, and there is nothing wrong in talking about Sushant. I am talking only about the good things which I know about him. I feel it is absolutely fine because jitna main Sushant ko jaanti hoon shayad koi nahi jaanta. And if there is a young boy who wants to be like him, I will definitely talk to him or anybody else.”
During an earlier episode, Vicky Jain mentioned Ankita Lokhande's past relationship with late actor, Sushant Singh Rajput and admitted that he had taken a lot of heat from it but never told anything to her. However, after hearing this, Ankita immediately told Vicky that she respects him and his family a lot for everything they have done for her. He interrupted Ankita again and shared his disappointment after hearing that he didn't support her. He said:
"When I came to stay with you guys, did I stay like a rich damaad or like a son? I also adapted myself to your and your family's lifestyle. When I came into a relationship with you, your past relationship which is famous on national television between Sushant and you. I had to bear the brunt of all of that. I took all that on me. If you had an objection then you wouldn't have decided to marry me. You took this decision on your own. I have always been there with your whole family."

In an interview with Saas Bahu Aur Saajish, Ankita Lokhande's mother-in-law, Ranjana Jain accused her of trying to gain sympathy by using SSR’s name and stated that the latter did a lot of great work when he was alive. She said:
"Sympathy jata rahi hai aisa lagta hai Ankita apne liye. Sushant ko kya padha hai, vo to chala hi gaya hai bechara. Wo tha jabhi bator ke le gaya, kitne achchhe achchhe kaam kiye usne."
