Anu Aggarwal starred in Mahesh Bhatt's directorial, 'Aashiqui' recalled that many people began questioning her relationship with the filmmaker when she was 22.
Anu Aggarwal was a famous Bollywood actress in the 90s. She received immense love and praise for her films like Aashiqui, Khal-Naaikaa, The Cloud Door, and more. Anu was known for her upfront and fearless attitude as she lived on her terms. The actress made a stellar debut with Aashiqui, co-starring Rahul Roy and it was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. Recently, Anu recalled how people grew jealous of her and linked her to the filmmaker. Moreover, she opened up about not being a typical coy heroine in Bollywood.
Recently, Anu Aggarwal sat down for an interview with Bollywood Bubble and recalled her experience working on Aashiqui. She mentioned that when she gave shots for the film, people were left amazed by her performance. The actress said that she lived alone in Mumbai and used to provide one-take shots that were praised by Mahesh Bhatt, which made other people jealous. She was quoted as saying:
"No one had any idea. I was alone in Mumbai, without my parents, and I was a model. It was a one-take shot. All my shots in Aashiqui were one-take shots. In fact, Mahesh Bhatt used to say that I was a 'one-take artist'. I hadn't heard that term before, and I think many people didn't like it. You know how it is, other people can be jealous."

Anu went on to reveal that several people started spreading rumours about her relationship with Mahesh Bhatt. They used to question why he used to praise her more. In her words:
"From the reactions I saw afterwards, some people started spreading rumours about me and Mahesh Bhatt, questioning our relationship and why he was so partial to me. Why did he praise me like that?"
Anu Aggarwal was only 22 years old when she faced the link-up rumours with Mahesh Bhatt. Despite being young and alone, Anu never paid heed to them. The actress said she was already busy dealing with several things. She said:
"No, I just ignored it. I had too much on my plate. I was a young girl living alone, and handling my life at the age of 22."

In the same interview, Anu Aggarwal shared that she witnessed several personal challenges in the industry. She was not considered a typical heroine because of her height and dusky complexion. At the same time, she didn't act coy on-screen. Instead, she was considered bold at that time. She used to smoke openly with boys, which wasn't common in the industry back in the day.
