Bollywood actor, Anupam Kher is one of the most respected, admired, successful, and incredibly talented actors of all-time. From starting his acting career with his debut film, Aagaman directed by Muzzafar Ali in 1982. The actor had broken the headlines after two years of entering into Bollywood in 1984 when he had starred in Mahesh Bhatt's iconic film, Saaransh that had changed his life forever and since then there was no looking back for this actor. In 2018, when Anupam ji's 501st film, Hotel Mumbai was released, and during one of his promotional events, the actor had gotten emotional and had stated that it was an incredible journey of 35 years in Bollywood. In a recent interview with The Humans Of Bombay, Anupam Kher has talked about his mother, Dulari, who had been his constant supporter since his first cry in the hospital as a newborn. The veteran actor heaped praises on his mother for making him a good human being and a great actor. Scroll down to know it all!
In an interview with The Humans Of Bombay, popular veteran actor, Anupam Kher talked about his mother, Dulari's impact and massive role in his immense success in Bollywood. The actor credited his mother for achieving his dream of becoming an actor, as she had always supported him in his decisions. When the actor was asked to reveal the things he had with him when he came to Bombay to become an actor back on June 3, 1981. Anupam ji said, "Her values were all I had when I came to Mumbai to be an actor with 37 Rs. At times I'd sleep on the platform, but never told her & when Mom fell sick, she didn't tell me we both tried to protect each other." The legendary actor also added that his mother was the one, who had strictly told him to be humble, when he had made his name in the industry with his performance in the iconic film, Saaransh. He added, "After I started doing films, Mom kept me grounded, 'No matter how high you fly, always be humble."
Going further in his interview, Anupam Kher recalled an incident from his childhood days, when he had lied for the first time in his life and revealed the kind of strict punishment his mother had given to him. He recalled, "I was 10 when a Sadhu came to school; Mom gave me 5 paise to give him. But I spent 2 paise and kept the rest in my bag. When Mom asked, I lied. Later when she found the money, she made me stand outside for 3 hours until I confessed. Mom let me in with a promise that I wouldn't lie again." Anupam ji added that it was his mother's values that had made him the person he is today. He added, "My mom was responsible for shaping me as a person." Concluding his interview, Anupam Kher opened-up about his late father, Pushkarnath Kher's demise and how it had bought the mother-son duo, even more closer than before. The actor stated how he and his mother had decided to celebrate his father's life at his choutha instead of mourning. He said, "After Papa's death, we became close - she'd lost her partner and I, my best friend. On his choutha, I said, 'Instead of mourning, let's celebrate his life'. We wore colourful clothes and invited a rock band. We narrated our fond memories with Papa; Mom said, 'I didn't know I was married to such a wonderful man'."
