Anupam Kher opened up about why he still lives in a rented home at the age of 69, even after earning so much wealth.
Veteran actor, Anupam Kher is one of the critically acclaimed actors, who has been awarded Padma Bhushan and many other such titles. He has worked in over 540 films in Hindi cinema, and at the age of 69, he still lives in a rented apartment. This fact might come as a shock to many of his fans, but Anupam prefers to live in a rented home than buy his own place.
Anupam Kher, in an interview with Curly Tales, talked about the reason behind not buying a house after spending 40 years in the film industry and earning so much wealth for himself. The 69-year-old shared that he never felt the need to buy a home for himself. He also added that he believed in saving money rather than investing it in a property.
Not only this, Anupam Kher further added that 'for whom' he should buy an apartment. He added that he would prefer to save the money in the bank account, and pay rent. He was quoted as saying:
"I live in a rented apartment, because I decided I don't want to own a house. Kiske liye? Pay the rent every month and live. The money that you will buy a house for, keep it in your bank account and use that to pay your rent instead."
Anupam Kher also added that he would prefer to give the money to charity and do something productive with it. He wants to create a legacy and do something that makes people remember him.
"I was teasing her seven years ago, saying that I am a big star, and she can tell me what she wishes to have. I thought she would say, 'Nahi, kuch nahi', but she instantly said, 'I want a house in Shimla'. I asked her why because we didn't live there after my father's death, but she lived in a rented house all her life there, hence wanted one of her own."
