Veteran actor, Anupam Kher's newest release, 'Signature' is on the horizon. During the promotions for the film, he shared a heartbreaking factor that contributed to his performance.
Veteran actor, Anupam Kher has been busy with the promotions for the upcoming release of his latest project, Signature. The film follows the story of ‘Arvind’, a man who is dealing with his wife falling critically ill after 35 years of marriage. Anupam has now opened up about some scenes hitting close to home and how he drew on personal experiences to better portray his character.
In conversation with India Today Digital, Anupam Kher spoke about how certain scenes from the film spoke deeply to his soul. However, like the professional he is, Anupam decided to channel those emotions into his performance rather than letting them overwhelm him. He said:
“During the shoot of this film, there were certain scenes that I enacted which I identified with at a personal level. My wife, Kirron, was unwell and was undergoing cancer treatment, so bringing out those emotions on celluloid came from that experience. I feel it’s the culmination of my personal life situations that helped me play this part efficiently.”
Mahima Chaudhary, a breast cancer survivor herself, recently made headlines for advising Hina Khan to get cancer treatment within India instead of the US. Well, it seems Anupam shares similar sentiments as he revealed his personal views on the matter in conversation with India Today.
Looking back at Kirron Kher’s cancer treatment, Anupam revealed that she, too, opted for treatment in Mumbai. He expressed his support for Mahima’s views and talked about how a meeting with Rishi Kapoor shaped his belief. Anupam said:
“We have some amazing doctors in our country and just the way Mahima advised Hina Khan to get treated in our own country, it is something that I strongly advocate for too. It’s also because I remember meeting with Rishi Kapoor when he was unwell. For one year, Chintu ji was in America and when we met, he expressed how difficult it was for him to get treated away from his house and the rest of the family members.”
According to Anupam, Kirron had also been abroad for her treatment initially. However, it was Anil Ambani who stepped in to offer his support and bring her home. Expressing his gratitude, Anupam said:
“Mr. Anil Ambani also sent his aircraft to bring Kirron back and got her treated here in India. It’s something that I highly appreciate because it’s so compassionate.”
For the unversed, Mahima Chaudhary will be starring alongside Anupam Kher in the much anticipated Zee5 release, Signature. With the subject matter of the film resonating so deeply with both actors, Anupam decided to offer an endearing tribute for his co-star on Instagram.
In a video, Anupam and Mahima talk about her inspirational journey as a cancer survivor while also discussing their upcoming film. Anupam also added a touching caption to the post in which he called Mahima “one of the bravest human beings” he had ever met and wished her a “long and healthy life.”
