Anupam is known for taking risks and is not afraid of calling a spade a spade. For the first time, Anupam talked about his journey, and his failures helped him be successful in life.
Anupam Mittal passed up the chance to make huge wealth due to his desire to make risky life choices. In an interview with Himesh Madaan, Anupam Mittal talked about the hiccups of his life. Anupam, who is returning as a shark on Shark Tanka India's fourth season, shared that before leaving for the US, he had three or four failed businesses.
Anupam revealed that he had started as a teenage entrepreneur, but nothing worked out. He would start a business plan every two years. However, he got scholarships to study in the United States. Anupam was quoted as saying:
"Before going to the US, I’d failed in three or four businesses here. I started as a teenage entrepreneur, but nothing landed. I would start something new every two years. Fortunately, I got a scholarship to study in the US. If these businesses hadn’t failed, I wouldn’t have gone to the US."
Anupam Mittal further revealed that his career took off in the US, and he became a multi-millionaire. But then came a time when he lost his job, and he had to restart from scratch. He started another business called Shaadi.com. Still hopeful, Anupam reworked himself, and all the risks he had taken shaped his life. He said:
"My career was on steroids. I was a multi-millionaire in my early 20s. I got fired from my job. And that’s when I started Shaadi.com. I was gutted when I was laid off. But it was the best thing that could’ve happened to me."
Anupam Mittal further revealed that he had turned out many offers worth Rs. 800 crore because he enjoys taking risks in life. He revealed that he had sold a couple of companies for smaller amounts, and he knows that one day when he would look back, he would know that he did the right thing. Anupam shared:
"I have received so many offers, I could’ve walked away with a $100 million. Rs 800 crore is not a small amount. I turned those offers down. I’ve sold a couple of companies for smaller amounts, but I’m still taking risks. There will come a time when I look back and say that I made the right choice."
Anupam Mittal is the founder and CEO of Shaadi.com. He is married to the actress, Aanchal Kumar, who was also a part of the fourth season of Bigg Boss. The duo tied the knot in 2013. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby girl, whom they have named Alyssa, on December 16, 2017.
