We all gloried in our victory while bleeding blue and The Oval was full of jubilant Indians. What happened was that during the first innings when India was batting, a group from the spectators started shouting ‘cheater’ looking at Steve Smith who was guarding the field standing at the boundary, not very far from the audience. Steve Smith, as cricketer fans know, was pronounced with a one-year-ban last year due to his infamous ball tampering controversy. And guess what? While Virat Kohli was batting, he asked the fans to stop calling Steve Smith a ‘cheater’, and instead requested them to clap for him! Now, that’s called sportsman spirit!
Virat Kohli’s gesture was not only appreciated by his million fans but also by his wife, Anushka Sharma. Anushka took to her Instagram stories to share a screenshot of a news article on the same, and wrote atop it, “Aggressive player, benevolent man - so easy to love,” followed by a heart-emoji. Well, seems like the wifey was proud of her hubby’s gesture, and just like us, she fell for Virat once again! Take a look at Anushka Sharma praising Virat Kohli for his gesture:
Virat Kohli also commented on the same during a post-match press conference. He was quoted as saying, “I feel for him. Look, we have had a few incidents in the past, we have had our arguments, but now he is coming back. I noticed this in the IPL too that he was keen to play and there were some incidents. It happened today too (fans booing) and I felt bad for him. I went and apologised to him on behalf of the crowd.” He had further added, “If I was in a position where something had happened with me, and I’d apologised and accepted it, and came back and still I would get booed, I wouldn’t like it either.”
Anushka Sharma’s Instagram story praising Virat Kohli’s gesture has also been met with appreciation from their fans. Virushka (as fans call these two fondly) is definitely the ‘IT’ couple of India. Time and again, they have appreciated and spoken the most heartfelt words for each other. Virat Kohli had once shared they he will never forget the first time Anushka Sharma had come down to watch a cricket match when he was playing. He had recalled in an interview, “During the Mohali incident, they had spoken to me already. When I hung up the phone and told her, for me it was like a flashback..From the moment I started playing in my academy till the Mohali game. I was emotional, I was in tears because I had never thought that I will see this day. What was more beautiful was that, I was able to share it with Anushka. From that point of view, I have become more responsible and that helps you in captaincy as well. It has only improved my captaincy as a human being and player outside."

We don't take our professions too seriously. We don't draw our identity only from that. We are very simple and like doing normal things. For the world, it is about our professions.
