The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently shared a picture on their Twitter handle, but it made all the cricket fans angry and disappointed. Team India, who is in the leadership of Virat Kohli, posed with the Indian High Commission in London amidst the hectic ongoing India v/s England test series. Joining the team was Bollywood diva and Virat Kohli’s wife, Anushka Sharma donned in a beautiful traditional mint-coloured suit.
Especially after BCCI stuck 'no-WAGs policy' on tours, this group picture left Twitterati wondering what Anushka is doing in a Team India picture? While the Vice-Captain for the last test match, Ajinkya Rahane stood in the last row, Anushka can be seen standing in the front row. Twitterati flooded BCCI with the comments, “Anushka bhabhi bhi squad mein hai kya?? @imVkohli”, “Why @BCCI allows someones wife at official tour.... Please confirm Is your team mens are at work or on honeymoon”, “anushka sharma is also there in the squad so probably she will be included in the playing 11 too for the next match”, “@bcci has lost the little credibility it had after posting this picture!” and many more. A few days ago, at India’s test match against England at Edgbaston, Virat smashed a commendable century in the first innings on Day 2. And as he marked 100 runs, Virat took out his wedding ring and kissed it. Wait, this is not it! He also waved it to the stands where Anushka was cheering her hubby, and post this gesture, Anushka’s heart was brimming with bliss. There was a time when Anushka was accused of Virat’s underperformance on-field, and now with these gestures, they are shutting such trolls in the most epic way! Virat has always been all-praise for his wife, Anushka. After India’s win against South Africa, Virat was quoted as saying, “My wife has been keeping me motivated throughout, she deserves a lot of credit for this. She has been criticized a lot in the past, but she is one person who has kept me going throughout this tour and when times have been tough and I am really grateful for that.” He also shared to their wedding cinematographers, The Wedding Filmer, “She guides me even when her body is not with me. Her words are. Her strength is. That is love. That is when you’ll know.”
When asked in an interview if it was difficult to concentrate on cricket post the wedding, Virat stated, “Not difficult at all, I was away for something (marriage) which is much more important. That is a period that will always remain special for both of us. Switching back to cricket is not difficult at all because it is in my blood like it is for every other team member and the team management as well, so getting back to professional front is not difficult at all.” (Also Read: 7 Famous Bollywood Actresses Who Dated Cricketers But Never Got Married To Them)
About embracing parenthood, Virat remarked, “Everything in life is transient. It will end one day. I have a life. I have a family. I will have kids. They deserve all my time. That is something that is very, very clear and close to my heart. I want no part of my career being flashed into my house. I want no part of my trophies, my achievements, nothing in my house when our kids are growing up.”
