The couple decided to celebrate their return to the country and Karwa Chauth by attending a kirtan by Krishna Das at Nesco, Mumbai on October 20, 2024. The couple was seen enjoying the bhakti music but the video seemed to have sparked some controversy regarding the actress’ enthusiasm while attending the event.

While the duo, Virat and Anushka were enjoying the devotional music at the kirtan, a video appears to have gone viral on a discussion platform. In the video, the actress can be seen excitedly clapping and humming along the bhajans. The video was posted with the caption, “Anushka and Virat spotted at another kirtan.” The video soon went viral, and Anushka started receiving considerable negative comments. One user commented:
“Anushka ko dekh ke kirtan kam concert zyaada lag raha hai.”
Soon the internet was split in two, while many users called out the actress for “over-acting”, others came forward to defend the actress, sharing that devotional music and events can be ‘happening’ too. There is nothing wrong with how Anushka is enjoying herself, and vibing with the essence of music. Fans commented that people were unjust towards the actress as many religious events include dancing.
Adding to it, people shared that the couple is just being thankful to the universe for their blessings, and everyone has their way of enjoying spirituality. In less than no time, the post was flooding with comments supporting Anushka and sharing their delight over seeing the happy couple. One user wrote:

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have been seen in various religious places in recent years, from 'Neem Karoli Baba', born Lakshmi Narayan Sharma's ashram called Kainchi Dham to temples of Vrindavan, the duo has been exploring their spirituality and focused on inner growth.
On the professional front, the actress was seen in Zero, alongside Shah Rukh Khan in 2018 and made a special appearance in the film, Bulbbul in 2022. Other than that Anushka is often seen supporting her husband, Virat Kohli at cricket matches.
