The musical prodigy is the undefeated king of Indian music, whose vocal prowess has the entire nation in its grip. Arijit Singh rose to prominence with his romantic records but later lent his voice to music across all genres. Recently, while scrolling through our social media account, we stumbled upon a video where the reigning king of music revealed how he sculpted his voice to people’s liking and if he plans to patent his voice.

Arijit Singh revealed that when he started singing, people hated his voice

This may come as a shocker, but there was a time in Arijit Singh’s life when people hated his voice. The singer revealed that his original voice is very different from his current voice. He shared that he tortured and broke his vocal chords in a way to sculpt it to people’s liking, as people hated his original voice. In Arijit’s words:

“Meine toh apne voce ko toda hai, mera voice thodi aisa tha pehle. Mera voice alag e tha. Who voice back karne ke liye mujhe 2-3 mahina saab chor dena parega, but people hated that voice. Meine jab usss voice mei ganna shuru kia tha, people didn’t like that voice at all. So, I had to change my voice. to kind of cut through. Gaale ko tod tod ke textures banaya hai meine. It’s almost like sculpting your voice. Bohot torture kia ha apne aap ko ek tarike se taaki voice ka projection alag ho jaye, bascally voice ka muscle banne jaisa.”

Arijit Singh shed light on whether he would like to license his voice

Arijit Singh shared that in this world of AI, it is very easy to copy voices and identities, as AI has access to every individual, so it is very important for a singer to patent his voice. He added that more than the voice, it’s his singing that he wants to license, and he, along with his team, is preparing to patent his voice. He also added that he would love to license his voice if others use it, as it’s all about the singing.

Arijit Singh stated that one can’t plan a hit

Arijit Singh shared that after his song, Channa Mereya became a hit, many other music composers and directors came to him to sing something like Channa Mereya yet again. To this, Arijit Singh and his team said that you can’t plan a hit. Once a blockbuster like Channa Mereya is done, it cannot be imitated. Now, if you try to make something like it, something else will be produced because this is how things work.

Arijit Singh shares that almost every singer uses autotune, and it is not a bad thing

In the same video, Arijit Singh revealed that every singer in the industry uses autotune to refine their work. He admitted that during his initial days, A.R. Rehman used autotune to bring out human emotions in a song. He added that autotune is not bad if done in proportion, as it helps refine one’s work. Every singer except Sonu Nigam can go off beat while singing, and autotune helps to regulate it.
