Arjun Kapoor recalled standing next to Deepika Padukone when she lost her calm over a female journalist who called her wardrobe controversy a 'petty issue'.
Deepika Padukone is one of the most talented actresses in the Hindi film industry. The actress never skipped a chance to mesmerise everyone with her jaw-dropping acting talents. Deepika has always kept her calm demeanour in public, but there have been a lot of times when she has lost her cool and become a part of controversies. One such incident happened back in 2014 when a reporter called Deepika's wardrobe controversy a petty issue. And now, Arjun Kapoor recalled how the actress handled the situation even though the line was crossed.
Arjun Kapoor recently sat for an interview with Mashable, wherein he called Deepika Padukone an amazing woman and mentioned that the actress stood up for herself. Recalling the time when, back in 2014, Deepika slammed a female reporter for calling her wardrobe controversy a petty issue, Arjun said that he showed his support to the actress by standing next to her, which was part of following his culture and upbringing. The actor remarked that he didn't need to stand up for her as the actress did it for herself, and that is the feeling of empowerment. Arjun can be quoted as saying:
“I think she stood up for herself, and that’s how you need to be. That is what feeling empowered is. I don’t have to stand up for her. I have to stand with her.”
Going further in the interview, Arjun Kapoor shared that it only looks good in films when someone tries to help someone physically. The actor further mentioned that back in 2014, Deepika handled the situation pretty well despite a line being crossed. In Arjun's words:
"I think there was a line that was crossed unfortunately, and she handled it really well.”
It was back in 2014 when a photo of Deepika Padukone was published with a title that it left the actress irked. The actress didn't take long to respond, and she slammed the publication by saying, “I am a woman and I have br*asts and cl*vage. You have a problem?" Well, after that when she attended an interview, the actress was asked about the same. Meanwhile, another female reporter suddenly called it a petty issue. Listening to the same, Deepika lost her calm and slammed the reporter by asking her how she, despite being a girl herself, could even call it 'petty' when another woman was being objectified. Deepika replied by saying:
"Can you please pan this camera on this lady here. You have absolutely no idea what are you saying right now. I am already very upset and you are making me even more upset and you being woman and you are saying this.”
Deepika Padukone met the love of her life, Ranveer Singh in 2013 while shooting for their film, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela.
