Arjun Kapoor had undergone a dark phase in his life. He used to feel down for not getting movies like Vijay Verma or Jaideep Ahlawat.
Arjun Kapoor's angry man role as 'Danger Lanka' in Singham Again has created an eternal memory in the minds of his fans. However, as seen in the film, Zubair, a.k.a, Danger Lanka, the actor's character, had his weak moments. Similarly, Arjun also revealed that he was frustrated by his negative thoughts. He once compared himself with Vijay Verma and Jaideep Ahlawat and pondered about not getting work like them.
In an interview with ETimes, Arjun Kapoor revealed that he was frustrated and was not enjoying his movies. He also mentioned that he thought that he was better than Vijay Verma and deserved roles like Jaideep Ahlawat. In his words:
"I’m not interested in such comparisons. My thought was more like, ‘Why can’t I get the kind of roles Jaideep (Ahlawat) is doing? Why am I missing the opportunities Vijay currently has in this film?’”
Arjun had also said that he was affected by personal struggles in his life that had left him paralysed. He was also affected by the personal struggles that had left him handicapped, as he had his inner turmoil going on. Arjun also spoke about having a lot of self-doubt and feeling trapped in his mind. Arjun quipped:
“I used to be the person who watched three films back-to-back during DVD days. So, to go from that to not feeling like even pressing play, I think it was more to do with the fact that I felt paralyzed by my thinking. I couldn’t overcome the negative thoughts. I was overthinking a lot, so I was not able to live and enjoy."
Arjun, revealed further to ETimes, that he had challenges watching his movies. The actor used to watch movies every night and even watched two movies before he hit the bed. It was in the second half of 2022 that he stopped watching movies and used to relentlessly scroll through Instagram and YouTube shorts before going to sleep. He had started to feel bitter when he used to watch movies of his peers and wondered about missing or not getting opportunities.
It was in 2022 when the actor had stopped watching movies. Earlier, in an interview with Pinkvilla, Arjun revealed that his passion for movies had not started overnight but it was a slow and gradual process. He would watch a movie and then start judging himself to get the kind of role, the actor performed. He wanted similar work as a mainstream lead star. Even once in a chat with Karan Johar for his show, Koffee With Karan, the actor had reminisced about his failures. He said:
"We all have public perceptions, we all have Instagram that shows a part of our personality that may or may not be accurate at times, but we are also combating box office pressures, industry dynamics."
