Army wife, Geetika Lidder is an inspiration who fought the most difficult phase of her life, losing her brigadier husband in a tragic chopper crash.
To be a soldier's wife is not easy, and non-army people are often told how women of army families always be ready for the worst. But no matter how strong you are, a woman is always a woman, and they will never stop worrying for their loved ones. But when the tragedy strikes, the same lady of the house takes on the role of alpha and leads the family out of the dark phase. And Geetika Lider is one of them, who stood strong when she lost her brigadier husband in a tragic chopper crash.
Geetika Lider is an army wife, who was married to Late Brigadier Lakhbinder Singh Lider. She is also an educationist and a huge believer in God. She recently wrote a book, I Am a Soldier's Wife, which is a memoir about her life so far, and how she dealt with the biggest loss of her life. Now, in an interview with She The People, Geetika recounted the day of the crash when her husband lost his life.
Geetika revealed that it was like a normal December morning in 2021, when her husband, Brigadier Lidder, left for his routine flight to Wellington. She revealed that she was in constant touch with him. They had their casual goodbye, and she packed his lunch and snacks. Little did she know that it was going to be her last bye.
Geetika further shared that she was taking her online class when her phone kept ringing. When she muted the class to picked the phone, the person on the other end told her that Brigadier's chopper had a rough landing. However, they could not give any further updates. Geetika stayed calm in the hope that her husband would have survived it with few injuries, but when, for five hours, she got no call, the fear started to get worse. Later, a senior officer's arrival at her home confirmed the news.
Geetika reflected on how difficult it is to be an army wife, as you have a constant fear of your husband's safety. She had lived a life with a long period of separation and fears, and it was her positive attitude and the hope to reunite that kept her going. However, she was never prepared for the tragedy, despite knowing the danger of her husband's profession. Geetika revealed that people thought she would not survive her husband's death and would pass out, but God gave her strength. She also added that she was someone who would keep fast three times, wouldn't touch water during Karwa Chauth and prayed for her husband's safety.
It is believed that storms truly determine the strength of the boat. Well, Geetika, who looked fragile, overcame the difficult phase as she had no other option. She had a teenage daughter, elder parents, and a family that was dependent on her. So, she took on her cape to be the superwoman as she knew that her husband would also want her to be the strength of the family.
Well, Geetika is definitely a strong woman and an even stronger mother who knows how to manage things when life gets tough!
