Asha Bhosle Shares A Picture With Late Lata Mangeshkar, Their Brother Recalls Singer's Last Days

One of the greatest singers of all time, Lata Mangeshkar's death came as a severe shock to her millions of fans across the country. The 92-year-old singer was admitted to the Breach Candy hospital in January 2022, after she was tested positive for COVID-19. However, she had recovered from the COVID-19, but she was put on the ventilator after her health had deteriorated. After battling against the virus, it was one February 6, 2022, when Lata Mangeshkar had passed away, leaving an unmatchable legacy behind.

From recording songs in 36 Indian languages to being bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1989, she is the first Indian to perform at Royal Albert Hall, London. After her demise, the Government of India had announced two-day mourning in memory of India's legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar.

While mourning the loss of her sister, Asha Bhosle took to her Instagram handle a few moments back and shared a rare picture of herself from her childhood days with her sister, late Lata Mangeshkar. In the priceless monochrome picture, while Asha Bhosle can be seen sitting on a pedestal and giving a cute expression to the camera, on the other side, Lata Mangeshkar can be seen standing besides her little sister and posing for the lens. Along with this picture, Asha Bhosle penned a line from one of her iconic songs, Bachpan Ke Din, in the caption, and it can be read as:

“Bachpan ke din bhi kya din the. Didi and I.”

In an interview with Aaj Tak, popular musician and author, Harish Bhimani, who had penned a book on the legendary singer, late Lata Mangeshkar by the name, 'In Search of Lata Mangeshkar', opened up about the thing she was doing in her last days. Harish shares a beautiful bond with the entire Mangeshkar family, and during his conversation with Aaj Tak, he revealed that Hridaynath Mangeshkar told him that Lata Mangeshkar was listening to their father, late Deenanath Mangeshkar's songs.

In the interview, Harish Bhimani shared a rare anecdote about the late legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar, that her brother, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, had told him. The author revealed that Lata Mangeshkar never listened to her own songs because she always used to find some errors and mistakes in them. Thus, she used to avoid listening to her songs. Well, it speaks volumes about the kind of humble person Lata Mangeshkar was because the magic in her voice is something we will never hear again.

Lata Mangeshkar was cremated with full state honour at Mumbai's Shivaji Park. Many renowned celebrities of the country had gathered there to bid their last goodbyes to the singing legend. However, there's no doubt that the songs sung by Lata Mangeshkar will always remain in our hearts and minds. Her cremation was scheduled at 6:30 in the evening, and it had turned everyone in tears.
