Ashwini Kalsekar answered the most personal question of her life, related to why she could not conceive and embrace motherhood.
Ashwini Kalsekar is best known for playing 'Jigyasa' in Kasamh Se. She married actor, Murali Sharma in 2009, and the duo is known for their unforgettable characters. However, did you know that the 54-year-old actress struggled to conceive and could never embrace motherhood?
For a woman to decide to conceive a child is a big decision. When it does not take place then the mental health of the women does get affected. During an interview with Hauterrfly's The Male Feminist, host Siddharth Aalambayan asked if she and Murali had considered having kids. Ashwini said that she and her husband did want kids; however, she has a kidney issue, and surrogacy was not well known. In her words:
"Honestly we did. But like I said I have this kidney issue and surrogacy ka tabhi fashion nai tha. Tha toh hamare paas utne paise nai thei. We were still settling, struggling aur phir koshish kari aur ek point pe doctor ne bola ki your kidney will not be able to take the load. So you will either harm yourself or the child. And later on, he said no. So surrogacy ka nai hua."

Going ahead in the interview, Ashwini revealed that age had caught up with her and that after a while, a woman's body is not mentally or physically fit to run after a small child. In her words:
"Mera nai hoh paya woh. Khair naseeb ki baat hai na. Bura toh lagta hai. Mei traditional hu ki I want to live the whole circle ki nai hoh paya. Shayad mere saas sasur, maa baap ki seva karni thi aur woh hamare bachei hai toh I am doing that."
In the same interview, the actress revealed that even though she could not have kids of her own, she has 2 dogs who are like her children. She has even kept a professional nanny for them. The 54-year-old actress also revealed that she got menopause when she was 51 and had a tough time. She underwent significant weight loss, and her emotional and physical health was disturbed. However, during the transitional phase of her life, she evolved stronger.
During an interview with Komal Nahta, Murali said that he got to know Ashwini on the sets of Apaharan which was a Prakash Jha movie. Murali revealed that they exchanged contacts after being friends and then decided to get married after a while. Ashwini also said in the interview that they are each other's critics. When they act together, they discuss whether they have given 100 percent to the scene. For the unversed, Ashwini was earlier married to Nitish Pandey in 1998. However, it was in 2002 that she separated. However, she and Murali received a lot of praise for their work in Rohit Shetty's Golmaal franchise.
