Though it seems like yesterday, five years have passed by since Asin Thottumkal and Rahul Sharma had begun their marital journey and even today, their wedding pictures make our hearts flutter.
Two decades ago, in 2001, a 16-year-old starlet had made her debut in the entertainment industry with the Malayalam film, Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka. Since then, there was no looking back for the actress as she soon made her debut in Bollywood with Aamir Khan starrer Ghajini, which was a Hindi remake of the Tamil film by the same name. Asin Thottumkal, in her more than a-decade-and-a-half long career span, had worked with well-acclaimed actors but it was her Housefull 2 co-star, Akshay Kumar, who turned her life completely and introduced her to the man of her dreams. Remember how in Ghajini, Asin Thottumkal’s character, Kalpana didn’t know about Sanjay Singhania (Aamir Khan) when she met him? In her own words, Asin had revealed that her real-life story with Rahul Sharma was similar to Kalpana and Sanjay’s story as when Akshay Kumar had introduced her to her future husband, she was unaware of who he is. It was during one of their journeys in a private jet for the promotions of Housefull 2 when Akshay had introduced Asin to his ‘good friend’, Rahul. While that was just a moment of exchanging pleasantries, it was at the Asia Cup 2012 where Asin had performed and Rahul had sponsored the event that the actress got to know about him. Asin was impressed with humility and simplicity in Rahul, despite being a millionaire. Four years after dating, Rahul and Asin had exchanged wedding vows in Christian and North-Indian wedding ceremonies.

One picture is from their wedding reception, in which Mr and Mrs share a lovely moment during their couple dance. While Asin blushes, exuding the newly-bridal glow, Rahul couldn’t stop looking at his ‘world’ and it seems like he is wondering, Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gayi, Kismat Pe Aaye Na Yakeen. The next one reminds us of the promise of lifetime togetherness that a couple makes at their wedding. Asin and Rahul held each other’s hand during their Christian wedding and promised a beautiful future together.
In 2016, Asin Thottumkal had posted a picture with Rahul Sharma, revisiting the memory lane and sharing the story of when she was introduced to her Mister. Revealing their ‘jab we met’ moment, Asin had written, “What a day it was #today! #homeboundnow #DhakatoDelhi It was four years ago during the Asia Cup sponsored by the Mister that he and I were first introduced! In an interview with Hello Magazine, Asin Thottumkal and Rahul Sharma had spoken about their relationship and shared some early memories of their first impression of each other. While Asin had said, “I met him while I was flying to Bangladesh for the promotions of one of my movies five years ago. Akshay, our common friend and my then co-actor, introduced him to me. Rahul came across as an extremely simple and humble person. A man of few words! What really struck me that day was ‘what a thorough gentleman he is!’ He is very respectful towards women and extremely dignified”, Rahul was quoted as saying, “Asin is unique… she has this fabulous energy around her combined with a lot of grace and simplicity that had me floored from day one. She’s fun loving, charming and as she says, quite a live wire!”
More than a year and a half later, Asin Thottumkal and Rahul Sharma had welcomed an angel in their family and since then, their lives have been revolving around their ‘angelic baby girl’. Just like their relationship and marriage, Asin and Rahul had kept her pregnancy under wraps and it was only on their daughter’s first birthday when she had introduced her to the world. To mark their second wedding anniversary, Asin had posted a glimpse of their newborn daughter and had captioned the picture as “#ARWedding #2years. It's the three of us now. Stepping into the third year.
