Earlier this year, rumours were rife that Athiya was pregnant with her first child after her father and superstar, Suneil Shetty, expressed his wish to become a 'nana'. However, they soon dismissed it, but it seems like Suneil Shetty's wish to become a grandfather came true quite soon.
On November 19, 2024, Athiya Shetty was spotted in a loose-fitting salwar suit at the Mumbai airport. The paparazzi first spotted KL Rahul at the airport and chased him to get a byte; while Athiya was inside the car, she refused to come out and interact with them. Later, the shutterbugs captured her in the queue.
As Athiya waited her turn, she tried her best to dodge the paparazzi. She covered her baby bump with her dupatta. For the day, Athiya donned an ivory-hued floral-print salwar suit. She opted for a no-makeup look and kept her hair loose in a fresh blow-dried hairdo.
On November 8, 2024, Athiya took a personal and heartwarming approach to her pregnancy announcement on Instagram. The actress, who has a penchant for all things minimal, eschewed a traditional pregnancy announcement photoshoot in favour of a more intimate picture note. In the photo, the parents-to-be shared their excitement about their 'beautiful blessing' due in 2025. The note was adorned with tiny feet and a charming amulet, a symbol of protection from the evil eye, adding a personal touch to the announcement.
Suniel Shetty, who was a judge on the last reason of the dance reality show, Dance Deewane, gave a casual statement. It soon created a stir in the media, and the report of his daughter, Athiya's pregnancy went viral. It all started when, during the grandparent's special episode, Bharti told Suniel that he has to behave when he becomes a grandfather, as no kid can handle such a cool grandparent. To which, Suniel said:
