Atul Subhash wrote a letter before taking his own life revealing how his wife, Nikita and mother-in-law tortured him and demanded Rs. 3 crores alimony.
Atul Subhash's suicide, as detailed in his 24-page letter, sent shockwaves across the nation. He explicitly blamed the corrupt judicial system and his estranged wife, Nikita and her parents for his tragic decision. The weight of his words was felt on December 9, 2024, when the news of his suicide broke on the internet. His wife and mother-in-law ran away as soon as the news broke to avoid getting arrested. Atul wrote a detailed note before taking his own life, and there he revealed how his in-laws and wife tortured him to death.
Atul wrote an in-depth letter before taking his own life. Therein, he accused his wife, Nikita Singhania, mother-in-law, Nisha Singhania, brother-in-law, Anurag Singhania and Nikita’s uncle, Sushil Singhania, of initially demanding Rs 1 crore for settlement, but the amount rose to Rs 3 crore and have increased even further after the maintenance awarded to his four-year-old son. He said his wife and his mother-in-law often harassed his family by demanding six sarees and one gold set for every small occasion. Atul also wrote:
“My wife, mother-in-law and my brother-in-law kept pressuring me to give them money since early 2020. I sent Rs 3 lakhs on 31st May, 2020 after my wife threatened to leave if I didn’t lend the money to my mother-in-law. Around 15 Lakhs were demanded in March 2021. I sent Rs 9 Lakhs in March 2021. I sent another 4 Lakhs on 17th April, 2021."
Atul even shared that committing suicide was his last resort, as after this, his wife and mother-in-law would be satisfied. They used him as wage funds and tortured him to no end. He also accused the judge for mocking and belittling him. Atul added:
“I choose to commit suicide today that seems to be the best option. This will satisfy my wife and mother-in-law while stopping the funds to wage war on my family and me. It will also expose the corruption of the Judge and madness of this legal system against me and my old parents and brother."
When reporters attempted to contact Atul Subhash's in-laws, they were met with threats over the coverage. The in-laws, who have since departed their residence in Jaunpur under the cover of night, are rumoured to be employing tactics to avoid arrest after being named in the FIR by Bengaluru police under sections 108 and 3(5) of the BNS. A video of Atul's mother-in-law, Nisha Singhania, riding a bike late at night, has been circulating on the internet.
When the team of CNN-News19 visited Subhash's estranged wife, Nikita Singhania's home, they found the main door locked. Despite their attempts to reach the in-laws, they were met with silence. It was clear that the in-laws were living in fear of imminent arrest.
