The 34-year-old Atul Subhash, ended his life after suffering from legal cases filed by his estranged wife, who is now in police custody. Recently, his brother demanded custody of his only son.
Atul Subhash's life story is a story of many men, who suffer at the hands of their wives and their families. However, no one wants to hear their story. The dowry and alimony laws, which were made to ease the life of a married woman, have become a weapon that most women are using against their husbands and in-laws. And a similar thing happened with Atul Subhash, who wasn't able to handle all the stress and hanged himself.
Atul Subhash left a 24-page suicide letter with a video and a 'justice is due' plea. After a week, Atul Subhash's estranged wife, Nikita Singhania, got arrested in Gurugram. Recently, Atul Subhash's brother, Bikas Kumar, lodged a complaint with the Marathalli police against Nikita Singhania and others. Recently, in an interview with The Times of India, Bikas demanded his brother's only son's custody. He said:
"Our family lost Atul; we want custody of his only son. My parents want to see Atul in the boy. He is the junior Atul for them."
One point to be noted is that Atul Subhash's parents have no information about the whereabouts of their grandson, and whether he is alive or dead. However, Nikita Singhania claimed that the son is in the custody of her relatives, and they are taking care of him. Atul Subhash's brother further revealed that the family wants to nurture the late techie's only son. He said:
"Both my father and mother feel Atul's son is junior Atul Subhash, so they want him in our custody, and they want to raise him. By seeing their grandson grow, they want to feel Atul is with them and relive his childhood. We are not sure in whose custody the child is and how they are treating him."
Atul Subhash and Nikita Singhania met each other via the matrimonial website. After initial conversation, they informed their parents about liking each other. The couple got married in 2019. However, Nikita started harassing Atul after their son was born and always demanded money from him to send to her parents. It's been three years since Nikita left Atul's home with their son.
A TOI report quoted Nikita Singhania, who denied all such harassment allegations made against her by the late Atul Subhash and her family. She claimed that she was living apart from her husband for nearly three years and didn't harass him for money. She was quoted as saying:
"If I harassed him for money, why would I stay away from him?"
Nikita Singhania even claimed that she was the one who was being harassed during the course of their marriage. After this, she filed a police complaint in 2022, accusing Atul Subhash of dowry-related harassment and assault.
